101 Things to do in Quarantine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

I know it’s been a challenging few weeks of social distancing from the people we love most while simultaneously trying to give our best efforts to schoolwork. The hidden blessing (in my eyes) is time. For some of us, we finally have the time to do the things we have always wanted to do. For others, we have seemingly endless amounts of time and nothing to fill it with. Some days we are drawn to sitting on the couch and binging shows. Other days we are antsy to cross another thing off our to-do list. Here are 101 things to inspire you on your Netflix binge days and over-productive Sundays:

  1. Cook a new recipe for dinner.

  2. Rearrange the furniture in your room.

  3. Freeze green grapes to make healthy popsicle bites.

  4. Host a themed Zoom happy hour. Mocktail Monday? Wild West Wednesday? 60s Saturday? The opportunities are endless.

  5. Order a donut decorating kit from God’s County Provisions

  6. Tan in your backyard or on your balcony.

  7. Practice running a timed mile. (Most of us, including myself, haven’t done this since high school sports or middle school PE.)

  8. Learn a TikTok dance.

  9. Start a blog, foodstagram, or art account.

  10. Take an online yoga class with Corepower.

  11. Bake pumpkin bread (add chocolate chips if you’re feeling fancy.)

  12. Tie-dye or bleach your sweats to create a custom sweatsuit.

  13. Listen to your favorite middle school album.

  14. Make a video on iMovie to remember the past school year.

  15. Send ‘thank-you’ notes or affirmation letters to your family friends, professors, coaches, roommates, etc.

  16. Dance every morning to get excited for the day ahead.

  17. Write down a list of all the things you are grateful for today.

  18. Take yourself on a picnic date. Today I made an acai bowl, laid out a blanket in my backyard, and tanned in the sun for 30 minutes while I had lunch.

  19. Subscribe to a new Youtube channel.

  20. Clean out your closet and make a bin for clothes to give away.

  21. Read a new book. My all-time favorite books are The Great Gatsby by F. Scoot Fitzgerald, The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris, and The Alphabet House by Jussi Alder-Olsen.  (P. S. I will be coming out with a comprehensive list of ALL my favorite books soon.)

  22. Facetime your grandparents.

  23. Start journaling to document your days and reflect on your thoughts and feelings.

  24. Give yourself an at-home manicure and pedicure.

  25. Create a post-quarantine bucket list.

  26. Paint a walk with chalkboard paint and let all your imagination go free.

  27. Find an organization you can donate to help those affected by COVID-19 or a cause you feel particularly drawn too.

  28. Recreate your favorite videos from the internet. My personal favorite is the man cheersing himself with a wine glass in the mirror.

  29. Invest in a company of your choosing through Robinhood.

  30. Take an Epsom salt bath with lots of bubbles.

  31. Start listening to Podcasts. I love Superwomen with Rebecca Minkoff, My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, and Snacks Daily.

  32. Go on a walk. If you have a dog, bring them with you.

  33. Order a coloring book.

  34. Conduct an at-home science experiment. Mentos in coke. Corn starch in water.

  35. Watch SomeGoodNews to lift your spirits.

  36. Rediscover your Pinterest boards and create your very own dream wedding.

  37. Put on a face mask.

  38. Make whipped coffee instead of your normal latte to spice up your morning.

  39. Develop a new habit (studies show it takes 21 days).

  40. Become a brand ambassador by reaching out to your favorite companies.

  42. Unfollow accounts that don’t provide you any happiness and/or make you feel bad about yourself.

  43. Organize your phone apps.

  44. Delete duplicates of photos and clear some storage on your phone.

  45. Learn a new card game.

My name is Emily Walker, and I am a psychology and finance double major from Southern California. I will graduate in 2022. I believe in working hard and being kind. I love spending most of my time laying on the beach, running in the sun, and wasting time on Canva. Whenever my schedule allows, I turn into a chef by day and a book worm by night.
