10 Beauty Products Every College Girl Needs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

1.   Garnier Micellar Water

Garnier’s Micellar Water is my #1 beauty product! I started using it about a month ago, and I have already noticed a difference in my skin. Micellar Water is an easy-to-use facial cleanser that removes dirt, makeup, oil, and sweat. All you have to do is dab it onto a cotton pad and wipe away. You’ve heard it a million times “always wash your face before going to bed.” This product gives you no excuse not to practice that healthy skincare habit! Best of all, it is super affordable (no need to break the bank for healthy skin).

2.   Clinique 3-Step Acne Solutions

At one point or another, our skin breaks out from either stress, poor cleansing habits, or any number of other causes. Clinique 3-Step Acne Solutions can help minimize those breakouts. I have struggled with acne for most of my adolescent life and Clinique products have been the only skincare products that consistently show positive results. The kit comes with a foaming cleanser, clarifying lotion and all-over treatment. It only took me about two weeks to start seeing progress. Over time, you will need to supplement your skincare routine with various moisturizers and other products, but the Acne Solutions 3-step kit is a great place to start.

3.   L’Oréal Double Extend Mascara

L’Oréal Double Extend Mascara is my all-time favorite mascara. I have tried countless drugstore and department store mascara, and this one continues to work the best for me. The base coat provides lengthening and strengthening ingredients to preserve the integrity of beautiful lashes. The second coat covers the white base coat and makes your lashes look long and full. This mascara comes off easily in water and will never give you raccoon eyes! L’Oréal Double Extend Mascara is a 10/10 and an absolute must in any college girl’s make-up bag!

4.   Clean and Clear Blotting Sheets

No matter how hard I try, my skin is always oily after class. I know that skin needs oil to maintain elasticity and proper functionality, but I don’t need to appear covered in sweat after my two-hour lecture. Luckily, Clean and Clear Blotting Sheets have got my back. Simply dap those oily spots with Clean and Clear Blotting Sheets and voila, you’ll be left with a clear face. Not only does this help keep your skin looking clean, but prolonged use of blotting sheets will actually improve the condition of your skin. Less excess oil means less breakouts.

5.   Mario Badesco Rose Facial Spray

Is rose facial spray worth the hype? Absolutely. Personally, I use the Mario Badesco Rose Facial Spray every day, multiple times a day. This facial spray is a great way to hydrate your skin, set your make-up, and give yourself a little refresh throughout a busy day. The rose water contains antioxidants that help protect the skin and combat inflammation. If you’re not ready to commit to a full 12oz bottle, try the 2.5oz for just $5.00 at Ulta. The Mario Badesco line also carries Aloe facial spray and Lavender Chamomile facial.

6.   Sun Bum Tinted Mineral Sunscreen

I cannot stress enough how important it is to wear sunscreen every day. Sunscreen shields your skin from harmful UV rays, prevents premature aging, and even helps your skin tone. Wearing sunscreen now will help ensure beautiful skin in your 40’s. I love the Sun Bum Tinted Mineral Sunscreen particularly for its light texture and matte finish. The formula contains vitamin E, which is great in preventing premature aging. Be sure to reapply over time and with water and sweat exposure!

7.   Clinique Exfoliating Scrub

Clinique is my favorite skincare brand for many reasons. One of which is their exfoliating scrub. Clinique’s Exfoliating Scrub is gentle enough for daily use. The micro-scrubbers effectively clean out my pores and leave my skin feeling refreshed and cool. Like other physical exfoliants, I do not suggest using a scrub if you are currently struggling with cystic acne. Physical exfoliants will only further irritate the skin and actually make the problem worse than better. If you think this exfoliant is a good option for you, you can get it for 15% off on macys.com website.

8.   The Wet Brush

The Wet Brush will change your life for the better. My hairstylist (SO to Michelle) introduced me to this miracle product years ago and I have now purchased about 5 different wet brushes. The wet brush easily combs through both wet and dry hair. It takes away knots and tangles without pulling too hard at your scalp. The company has now come out with different styles of brushes and combs to meet all your hair needs.

9.   Burt’s Bees Micellar Water Cleansing Towelettes

If you’re religious about using face wipes over traditional cleanser to take off make-up, the Burt’s Bees Micellar Water Cleansing Towelettes are perfect for you. I picked these up in the beginning of summer and have used them to remove my make-up ever since. The towelettes are made from environmental-friendly materials and they feel sturdy, but not rough on skin. The wipes are sold in 30-count package at Target for only $4.99.

10.Batisse Dry Shampoo

Whether you just left the gym and don’t have time to shower before class or you don’t want to wash your straightened hair just yet, Batisse Dry Shampoo will be your lifesaver. A quick little spray at your roots with a brush through is sure to do the trick. The company also claims their dry shampoo can help cover up your roots in between appointments. Batisse Dry Shampoo comes in a variety of different scents and colors, so you’re guaranteed to find the product that works best for your hair type.
