5 Binge-Worthy Shows for Thanksgiving Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lehigh chapter.

While Thanksgiving is a time to catch up with friends and family at home, everyone needs a good TV show to watch in the midst of holiday festivities. No matter what genre of television you like, I can recommend a show for you. Here are some TV shows of different categories that are definitely worth watching in some spare time over the break:

Horror: The Haunting of Hill House

If you are into scary shows, I can guarantee you that you will become obsessed with this new Netflix miniseries like I did. But, be careful because this show will legitimately haunt you, unlike other so-called “horror” shows that Netflix has to offer. Watch out for jump scares and ghosts, but get ready to dive into the crazy past and present of the Crain family and find out what makes Hill House so haunted.

Drama: Dynasty

Watch the reboot of this 1980s series if you want to see the crazy lives of the Carrington family unfold. This show consists of family drama and romance, and also has a blast from the past actress as Elizabeth Gillies, or Jade from Victorious, stars as Fallon Carrington. You can catch Season 1 on Netflix and watch Season 2 live on The CW.

Comic Relief: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

This Netflix original follows Kimmy Schmidt as she navigates herself through New York City after being trapped in a bunker for her whole life. I love this show mainly because it does not require much thought to watch. Sometimes these are the best types of shows. You don’t have to take my word, but Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is almost guaranteed to be funny based on its creator, Tina Fey, and its main star, Ellie Kemper. Catch Seasons 1 through 4 on Netflix if you have down time and need to blow off some steam.

Reality: Are You The One

Season 7 of Are You The One just finished airing on MTV, and I personally loved every minute of it. This dating show follows 22 young singles who are put together in a house to try and find their “perfect match.” Oh yeah, and the catch… a one million dollar prize at the end if they all find their match. In a house full of drama, romance heartbreak and the constant dilemma of whether to follow the head or the heart, Are You The One always keeps me entertained. The beauty of this show is that you do not have to start from season one, as there is a new cast each season. Catch up with “Saucy Season 7” quickly and watch the reunion show live!

Crime: Quantico

Watch this show to see Priyanka Chopra star as the fearless Alex Parrish who fights terrorism in New York City. Make sure you have a lot of time on your hands because this is a hard one not to binge. ABC sadly cut this series after the third season, but you can still catch all three seasons on Netflix.

Happy Thanksgiving and happy TV time, Lehigh! Enjoy your time with family and friends, and maybe even start a new show, or two!
