Strong Women Playlist!

After last week marked the 100th anniversary of women being allowed to vote, this week’s playlist will be full of strong women. We’ve come a long way since then from being able to vote, from the rise of women speaking out about their sexual assaults to rise of women in high and powerful positions. We have come a long way, so many women nowadays in the field of are becoming inspirational artists, writing and singing about their issues and struggles, and becoming famous worldwide. Here are a few revolutionary women in the world of music today:

– Taylor Swift-after one difficult moment to another, from her issues from Kanye West to her issues with her sexual assault case, she has used that ammunition time and time again into one amazing song after the other. In the space of eleven years, he has released several albums, from her self-titles album to her latest “Reputation”.

– Lindsey Stirling-After her struggle with anorexia and depression, this woman has become a master of her instrument and of dance. She has released four albums, produced several singles with many musicians and has even written her own autobiography “The Only Pirate at the Party”. Even after the recent loss of both a close relative and friend, she has turned that pain into art with her album “Brave Enough” and has come the runner-up in Dancing with the Stars.

– Lady Gaga-after being sexually assaulted at the age of 19, Lady Gaga has not only been able to speak up about this issue and her mental health, she is known to be one of the most famous musicians in the pop industry, with six albums to her name, including her latest “Joanne”.

– Kesha-After years of abuse from Dr Luke, she turns that pain into a beautiful song as she writes her first song in four years. Her song “Praying” is in the list below.

These are just a few names in the world of music but there are so many strong women who have made this world a lot stronger. I would strongly recommend reading “Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls”, its full of colourful artwork and stories of so many revolutionary women throughout the ages and its so inspiring to read a book full of these incredible women.

This playlist is full of music that not only has used these musicians’ pain into a work of art, but also pieces that are written by strong women, for strong women.
