How to spend your NYE in LEEDS!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Leeds chapter.

Whether you’re still home for Christmas, or on your way back, no doubt you’re already thinking of what venue to choose to see in the New Year in style with your friends! With Auld Lang Syne being sung across venues nationwide at the stroke of midnight, it is often hard to distinguish the best nights when there are so many to choose from. Well look no further; this is your guide to the tasty treats gracing Leeds’ night life this year!

First up, for those who want a relatively laid back entrance into the New Year, look no further than The Faversham. The only compromise being the pub sized proportion; it is bound to be crammed to the roof. The unique theme, Pimps and Hoes, is a sure fire winner. Think of the old school American look; a hat, perhaps a gangster-esque suit, or a blazer if you’d prefer to look a little more casual. For the girls: wear a classy dress, as short as you dare, black tights, tousled locks, smoky eyes. Music wise, you are destined to receive a mixed bag of crowd pleasers at The Faversham. The ultimate in low key New Years fun!

Next, a new night to Leeds; It’s All About New Years. Unlike the traditional New Year’s scene, It’s All About New Years is for those wanting something slightly more alternative. Goth themed, it isn’t for the faint hearted but if rock and metal is your thing then this renowned, long running Whitby-based festival is a must. This year it has moved venue and will grace the stage of The Library.  Expect moon boots, a lack of colour, and moshing.

Propaganda, the UK’s biggest indie night, introduces its twist on its regular Saturday night, the New Years Eve spectacular; the intergalactic indie night. This futuristic night embraces all things new, and for those who love the longstanding Propaganda night this is the one for you! Think two rooms, one indie, one drum and bass and dubstep; expect a mix of people, the place to be rammed, and an eclectic mix of fancy dress outfits. This night last year sold out well in advance, so if this is for you get in there early.

A well-established New Years venue in Leeds, you’d be sorry to miss out!

The only piece of advice; go with your gut, decide fast, and grab those exclusive tickets to see in the New Year in style before your only option becomes the ‘house party’, or Jools Holland’s Hootenanny!
