Hair and How it Can Transform Your Wardrobe
Every girl knows you could be head to toe in Prada with a full face of makeup – but if your hair isn’t looking good then chances are you won’t be feeling it and if you don’t feel it you won’t look it which is such a waste of Prada and makeup. What I’m trying to say is our hair can make or break an outfit and I’m going to give you 4 ways to make it.
If I had hair like Mary-Kate here i would be waving it in peoples faces and would run around naked just satisfied i had hair that beautiful and long. However i don’t and in accepting that I’ve had to improvise.
DAY TIME
1. High Pony
Newly washed hair can feel soft and lovely but sometimes have no life. A high pony definitely puts an end to this. It can also compliment a nice fresh face of makeup and spruce up an outfit which consists of dull colours which i usually find myself in; greys and blacks. This hair also compliments a v-neck or shoulder neckline. A trick for making the pony tail looking its longest is to pull one piece from the top upwards and one from the bottom downwards.
2. Top knot bun
This look works well when your hair is looking pretty lank and dirrrrty or you just want a change. Simply twist the hair and then wrap it round on top of your head securing it with a hair band. This look works well with chunky knitwear we all love in leeds and barely there makeup. This also looks good if you have a little fluff or fur on the collars that we are all wearing this winter. Play around with the bun if its its looking a bit perfect – ya wont be wanting that.
NIGHT TIME
3. Low Pony
This is a more chic approach to the high pony. Think Serena Van der Woodsen. Hair up can be a smarter way to wear it so it can make a change for a night out, especially the nights where you really just want to wear what you did last time you went out. Well this can change the whole look so not to worry-put on that trust dress, whip that hair up and if your feeling super jazzy why don’t you get some hoops to team it with.
4. The Alba Plait Bun
Now we all don’t have a face like Jessica and she works this look well. BUT trust me girls – this hair style looks good on everyone especially when teamed with really nice makeup and rosy cheeks. Think a nice chic shirt or blouse with this or even a way to make a more day time outfit smarter. If your like me your day clothes become your going out clothes with just a bit more makeup on, this could be a nice way of making that bit more of an effort.
IF your seriously bored, procrastinating or wanting a big change post break up or bad results then try dying the tips of your hair, like this:
So good luck girls and get those hair brushes and hair sprays out and change the way you look every day this week.
Staples: A Little About Me
Here I am giving you all my fashion know how and you don’t have a clue who I am. Here is an insight into my wardrobe and the things that you will usually find me with.
I am a firm believer that as a girl an investment must be made into the staples of our wardrobes!
03/11/2011 Dazed and Confused:Making it up as we go along
“To celebrate Dazed turning 20 this autumn, a new book charting the visual history of the magazine is released this month, published by Rizzoli. Edited by its founders, writer and journalist Jefferson Hack and photographer Rankin, the pages in the book feature the magazine’s most legendary shoots, iconic images, extraordinary interviews and controversial collaborations.” (www.dazeddigital.com)
This makes for an ideal Christmas present for someone who is really into fashion photography or just wants something trendy for his or her coffee table. You can’t go wrong with Rankin and the images inside are worth the money spent.
KREAYSHAWN: Kreating a new way for us ladies
Think Amy Whinehouse meets Nicky Minaj and has a baby that looks a bit like GAGA. That’s what comes to mind when you see Kreayshawn. She is the new rap queen in town (California that is) and she is already making a statement with her wardrobe.
With big gold hoops, chains and leopard print harems you’d be mistaken for thinking this girl was straight outta croydon but with a Californian swag about her she pulls it off and makes it rap-glam.
It’s becoming more common for female artists to express their style that shines in their lyrics and attitude through their clothes these days. Gone are the days of women in tight ‘the only way is essex’ tube dresses and 6 inch heels to award shows, their sex appeal desperately trying to get noticed. It’s now common for these new generation of girls (I’m talking Jesse J, Nicky Minaj, Gaga, Kesha) to turn up in bizarre, outlandish outfits because they want to. With their music becoming more recognized and respected these girls don’t need a low cut top to get noticed and good on them!I’m not encouraging you to get out there and raid Primark for hoops, harems and heinous neon clothing I’m just saying girls dress however the hell ya feel like!

DIY This winter
With the term quickly disappearing I’m sure many of you are bored of many items in the wardrobe. With the loans also quickly disappearing, gone are the days where a trip into town fills you with excitement and a taxi back home is essential for all those bags. Its time to get smart with your money and your wardrobe. I am not personally into the Gok style makeover where a headscarf doubles up as a pair of trousers BUT I do have some tips to rejuvenate some of those items.
1. Buy a fur stole and add it to a leather jacket
2. Add Studs to anything
3. Customize using scissors/other material/paint
So get to work girls, stay on trend and stay out of that overdraft!

Just a quick look at what’s available in the Leeds city centre and what I am LOVING.
25/10/2011 I Found Love: Within Rihanna’s Wardrobe
Appreciating what a great song, ‘We Found Love’ by Rihanna and Calvin is, can we then appreciate firstly the internet version of the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg00YEETFzg) and how ridiculously sexy the London based boyfriend she’s bagged is and lastly the amazing clothes… I am obsessed.
Rihanna always pushes boundaries with her videos and clothes but what I love most about her is that her style is sexy and accessible. Don’t get me wrong I love Gaga but that sirloin maxi is not my idea of something I would wear out in Leeds.
Instead Rihanna goes for clothes that girls our age can easily copy without blowing their loans all at once. She seems to be interested in and inspired by British Punk rock which is cool for us because that’s what us girls over here are into too at the moment. She can obviously get away with going all out with the style, one because she is Rihanna, two because she is hawwwt and three because the style looks so good on her. Well gals I think we already do pretty well with our injections of British Punk at the moment but i’ve put together three outfits inspired by the video that i think Rihanna and some of you ladies in Leeds would be proud of.
So I hope you enjoy these and maybe even venture into town and grab yourself some Rihanna inspired outfits for a lecture, a stroll around Hyde Park to show everyone how good you look or even jazz it up for a night out.
