Celeb Goss Blog – What You Missed Last Week – 19.02.12

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Leeds chapter.

Headlines this week in the US as well as over here will have been filled with reports from the Grammy awards and tributes to the late Whitney Houston, so I thought I would give an update on the Celeb news stories from this side of the pond, as gossip never ceases when it comes to British celebs…

Cher Lloyd vs. Cheryl Cole

Cher Lloyd has often been compared to Cheryl Cole due to their scarily similar looks and names, not to mention the fact that Cheryl mentored Cher during their time on the X Factor together, moulding her into her protégé.  However it seems that the friendship didn’t last beyond the show, as this week Cher Lloyd openly accused Cheryl of relying on auto tune when performing live during a radio interview. The feisty singer was asked if she would be willing to perform with Cheryl Cole at all, to which she replied ‘maybe if she sings live!’ followed by a giggle. Cher must have since been told off by her management for the comments, because she then went on to apologise for her words during an appearance on Daybreak later in the week; ‘all I was saying was that I would love to perform with her live and then I made a little joke… I want to say sorry to her if she found that offensive.’ However, no celebrity feud would be complete without a few bitchy twitter comments, as Cheryl decided to let her feelings towards her ‘mini-me’ known via her page: ‘Be Careful who you kick on your way up… They kick you twice as hard on your way back down.’

Petrol Bombs in Essex

A shop seems to be the latest ‘thing to own’ after a tiny dog, hair extensions and a range rover in The Only Way is Essex, and TOWIE veteran Lauren Goodger was the next to jump on the bandwagon this week as she opened her tanning salon and shop. However, less than 24 hours after filming its grand opening with her cast mates, thugs attacked the shop by throwing petrol bombs through its windows, causing police to cordon it off to the public. Lauren returned to the shop to inspect the damage the next day, and appeared to look ‘visibly shocked’, saying to the Daily Star that she felt ‘devastated that individuals could vandalise my new shop. I’m just glad that no one was in the shop at the time.’ Lauren is the second victim of unprovoked attacks on TOWIE stars, as Sam and Billie Faires were attacked last year on a night out by a group of girls, leaving them in hospital.

Mollie King and David Gandy Split

David Gandy, of tiny white Dolce and Gabbana pants fame, has announced he has split from Saturdays singer Mollie King after ten months together. The couple have blamed their ‘hectic schedules’ as the reason for their break-up, with Gandy saying ‘I have been over in the States three times this month and a relationship can’t take that.’ Mollie, who is currently doing promotion work with her band in sunny LA was greatly complimented by her ex, who described her as ‘a remarkable girl’ who is ‘incredibly beautiful.’ At least now Vanessa White, who had been the only single member of the Saturdays will have someone to play with on nights out…

Frankie Cocozza Wants a Girlfriend

…But only once he has reached his target of bedding 100 women. At only 18, Frankie has claimed to have already slept with 93 women since losing his virginity at the age of 12, and is currently on the hunt for the seven more lucky ladies he needs to reach his target. He said in an interview that once he gets to 100 he is ‘getting a bird’ as he is ready for a serious girlfriend. X Factor followed by Big Brother fame has obviously worked in his advantage in terms of pulling girls, because he claims all he has to do is go up to girls and say ‘You’re fit. Do you want it?’ and ‘all the slags are like “Yeah I’ll shag him”.’ However perhaps he slightly picky, as he was later pictured this week trying to get away from a female fan who appeared all over him outside a club.
