Meet the HC Le Moyne Founders

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Le Moyne chapter.
HC Le Moyne launched on March 29 thanks to the following dedicated young ladies. Here’s to a great semester and to the future of HC Le Moyne!

Omairys  G. Rodriguez- Communications, Advertising ’12
Co-founder and Campus Correspondent
I only make moves when my heart’s in it and don’t ever forget to live the phrase sky’s the limit! I’m a go-getter, motivated, and dedicated to my future. I hope to leave a legacy wherever I go, starting with HC Le Moyne. Thank you all!

I am 20 years old and a proud libra. I am a full-time student and full-time worker, so caffeine is my best friend in the whole wide world. When Omairys approached me about bringing Her Campus to the Le Moyne campus, I was super excited and eager to bring change. It has been a great experience thus far. Follow me at @she_bangs because, by the way, I live twitter !!!

I’m currently a Communications major with a concentration in Advertising and Public Relations, with a minor in Philosophy and English. I’m from Saranac Lake, New York, in the heart of the Adirondacks.  I love being a Communications major, mainly because I like to talk (Haha). In the future, I hope to move to a big city, probably NYC, and work for a large Public Relations firm. I’d say I have a way with persuading people and that’s mainly why Public Relations first caught my eye. However, this is all subject to change since I still have one more year until I graduate, and of course much more to learn about both concentrations.

I’m a psych major and a Resident Advisor at Le Moyne who loves singing, roller coasters, and zebra print. I secretly wish I was a Disney princess, and I am determined to visit Italy before I die. I believe in the power of the mind, second chances, and happily ever afters.

I’m a Communications major with a concentration in Public Relations. After I graduate my dream job would be to work for People’s Revolution because Kelly Cutrone is kind of my idol. I hope to stay in NYC living the fab life, but it seems kind of hard so I want to check out Boston, even though I’ve never been there. A quote that I live by is “fisherman make their day in troubled,” its even tattooed on my back. You get the most out of life when your struggling, and fisherman catch the most fish in a storm.

Melanie Ramos ’12
Contributing Writer/Publicity Director
Melanie is from New York City and is a dual majoring in Marketing and Business Management. This summer she will be interning with a boutique advertising firm. Involved in  various campus organizations, Melanie makes sure to stay active on campus. She is very excited of the new events and opportunities Her Campus will bring to Le Moyne Campus.

I’m from a small town near Albany called Fonda. I’m graduating this year as a Marketing major and I really hope I find a job in Albany for now, but eventually I want to move someplace warm and sunny.  I love yoga and Zumba, and I especially like running with my dog Vincenzo. My favorite place to be is the beach and my favorite thing to do is tie-dye with my friends.

Kathy C. Antigua ’12
Contributing Writer & Social Media Director

I am currently a senior at Le Moyne College earning a B.A. in Communications with a double concentration in Advertising and Public Relations, with a minor in Fine Arts. I don’t know exactly what I am going to do when I finish my term at LMC, but I do know one thing, “we often make plans and God laughs.” Therefore, I don’t have an exact road map dictating my life, I am making my own moves and waiting to see where they lead me.

Chelsea Auburn ’12
Contributing Writer
I am a Public Relations major with a minor in Psychology. I’m not sure exactly what I want to do in the future. Public Relations gives me a lot of options and many possible job opportunities. I want to go somewhere down South after my time at Le Moyne, but I would also love to live in Boston at some point! I’d love to work for a non-for-profit or perhaps even work with athletes or celebrities! Who knows what the future holds!

Nicole Owens ’11
Publicity Director

Nicole is a senior at Le Moyne College majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Communications. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia but raised in Syracuse, NY. In preparation for graduation, she is excited to start the next chapter of her life. Eager to venture off into the world after college, she is proud to of been apart of the start up of Her Campus Le Moyne College during her last semester.

Omairys, a born and raised New York City gal of the Dominican descent, is a motivated Communications/Advertising major, with a minor in English. She does not know what she will do with her Communications degree after graduation but is ambitious enough to hope it will be something promising, as this field has been her passion for as long as she could remember. She is actively involved on campus, as she is President of El Progreso, a multicultural organization that strives to raise awareness of the Latino community. She loves to travel: she has traveled to Kenya to work at The Nyumbani Program and will be interning at our nation's capital her senior year! She is hard working, and excited to bring change to her campus---Le Moyne.
