Once again it’s time for the ever popular, “Snowball” dance here at Le Moyne. Snowball offers students a chance to celebrate the winter here in Syracuse by dressing up and having fun with their friends. It is also the last big school event before finals. Whether you are a freshman, senior, or anything in between, here is a helpful list of do’s and don’ts for this year’s snowball. No one wants a repeat of 2009 so follow carefully.

DO buy your ticket(s) ahead of time
Before we go any further I want to make sure everyone is aware that tickets are NEVER sold at the door. You must go to CLL before it closes at 4:30 on Friday and purchase a ticket. It is $5 for students and $10 for guests. No matter how much begging you do they will not let you in without a wristband.

DON’T harm your wristband
That being said once you receive a wristband do not cause any harm to it. I say this because as someone who has had to check wristbands at the door before, I’ve seen a lot of people with wristbands that look like death. Some come chewed up, some come taped and stapled, and some a completely different color than they original. To avoid being harassed at the door about the whereabouts of your wristband just take care of whichever arm it is placed on.

DO buy a classy dress, DON’T buy a provocative dress
Snowball is one of the few events on campus that calls for semi- formal attire. This is not like the Halloween dance where pretty much ANYTHING goes, or Dolphy Day where bikinis and shorts are all rage. I’m not saying wear a ball gown that covers you head to toe (totally up to you though), but wear something that is somewhat formal. No one is going to shun you from the dance, but as college students how often do we really get to “class” it up for a night? So have fun with it.

DO travel in a numbers
Like any other event on campus make sure you make it a group event and travel down with friends. Not to say that anything is going to happen, but it is always better to be safe than sorry.

DON’T PUSH YOUR LIMIT
Let’s just address the elephant in the room. The fiasco of ’09 made administration notice that a lot of students do not know their limits when it comes to alcohol consumption and that is why they have really buckled down when it comes to the alcohol policy. I know telling you guys to not pregame seems like a stretch, but like I said before this is not like other events. So why spend so much time getting dressed up to only look like a hot mess after a few drinks? If you do choose to drink please be smart about you decisions and make sure you don’t push your limit. You will not be allowed into the dance if you are being carried in by friends.

All in all Snowball is a great event and everyone should attend to get the full experience. Here are a few more things you can do to make the best of this year’s dance:

DO have fun
DO dance like there is no tomorrow
DO ask your secret crush to dance with you
DO take a lot of pictures and try to get in the yearbook
DON’T take off your heels and dance barefoot
DON’T lose your belongings
DON’T end up in a random person’s room
