These interesting facts help keep us as healthy as can be.
1. Breast cancer is extremely common. Breast cancer is no rarity. After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women; it is also the most common killer of women after lung cancer.
2. Friends can be as much help as medications! Get out and have a blast with the girls! It is shown that women with a
social life are at reduced risk of breast cancer than women who are lonely. The stress that comes with being alone and housing thoughts and feelings within can depreciate the power of the immune system causing us to be more susceptible to illnesses.
3. Second hand smoke increases risk of breast cancer. Being near smokers can pose just as much of a threat as smoking yourself! Women who encounter smoke within their households and/or workplaces are THREE TIMES at risk than those women who avoid smoke altogether.
4. Active women are at reduced risk for breast cancer. Are we hitting the gym? If we are, 45 minutes of moderate exercise 5 days a week can help your body get what it needs to avoid breast cancer.
5. Early detection can save you! In most cases, early detection results in a surprising 96 percent survival rate. Yearly check- ups and a proactive attitude can and will save your life! The doctor is your friend and should be seen as often as recommended and also when you feel something is wrong.
