        1)      Sled down Union Hill:
I know we’re not supposed to, but sledding down Union Hill is a great way to add some adventure to the sometimes mundane winter term. Just make sure to be covert and careful.

2)      Play broomball on the famous “Ormsby Lake”:
There’s no better way to let off some winter term steam than playing on Ormsby Lake, located just outside the hall on the green. Grab some friends and skate on the ice, or join a pick up game of broomball!

3)      Drink a Hot Toddy:
If you’re over 21, try a Hot Toddy at the Viking Room. Originally thought to cure the flu, this tea and whiskey combination is perfect on a cold winter night.

4)      Watch the snowfall in the Sommerset Room:
The Sommerset Room is the perfect place to relax and observe the beautiful Fox River during the winter months. Pull up a comfy chair and  watch the snow fall and eagles building their nest.

5)      MLK Day of Service:
To remember Martin Luther King and the importance of community, take time on your day off to Volunteer. Help out at wonderful local organizations such as Harbor House, The Humane Society, Boys and Girls Club, and many more! Visit the MLK volunteer center website (blogs.lawrence.edu/vcsc/2011/11/mlk-day-of-service-january-16th.html) for more info!

6)      Build a snowman:
Do I even need to explain? Not only would you have a blast, but you’d also make the day of fellow Lawrentians as they stroll by.

7)      Watch “The Happy Movie”:
Join “The Happy Movie” revolution! This award winning movie travels around the world to answer questions such as “What really makes us happy?” and “Do we live in a world that promotes the value of happiness?” Come to the Warch Center January 26th at 8 PM to watch this fascinating film. Check out the website to learn more (seriously, you should!) by visiting  http://www.thehappymovie.com/film/

8)      Candles and Hot Chocolate:
With the stress of winter term in full swing, finding time to relax is invaluable. Make your dorm room a tranquil sanctuary by buying soothing candles from Eco Candle on College Avenue. Grab some hot chocolate or coffee and find your OM.
