I definitely don’t love winter weather, but fall and winter fashion have always been my favourites. I don’t know why, but I love wearing pants, long-sleeves, sweaters and jackets. As far as I’m concerned, my fashion game thrives in the wintertime. Here are some of my current favourite winter trends, complete with example products and style inspiration!

Berets

Maybe it’s just the French wannabe in me, but I think berets are the cutest accessory any time of year, especially in the winter. They come in all different colours and fabrics, so there’s one for everyone. Whether dressing up a plain outfit or complementing a look, berets make it complete. I recently purchased a plain black one at H&M for only $14.99!

Neutral Knits

Arguably a winter essential, neutral knits are easy, affordable and pair with just about anything. I think the neutral trend has been going strong for the last few years and I’m all for it. I love the clean, earthy and minimalist look of grey, cream or beige sweaters. Whether you like turtlenecks, three-quarter sleeves or cropped, there are so many options out there. I love my soft grey knit from H&M – and you can’t go wrong with this wardrobe staple!

Longline Teddy Coats

I’m sure you have noticed the teddy coat trend for the last few years, which I am shamelessly all for! Recently, a friend of mine was wearing her new teddy coat, but with a twist. Her coat was long! I absolutely loved it and even kind of wish I got it instead of the short version. Whether you want the original short style like mine from i.am.gia, or a longer version, teddy is definitely here to stay – in many colours and price ranges!

Plaid EVERYTHING

Plaid always seems to be associated with the fall and winter seasons, and while this may not be a “new” trend, it is a great one! I have yet to meet a plaid piece that I dislike. From hats and bags to coats and pants, there is a plaid option for anything! I recently (and finally) got a plaid coat at The Gap after much searching. I also got some new plaid pants (on sale!) from American Eagle. Add a bit of colour, pattern and flare to your look with a plaid accent!

Splash of Colour

While this may go against the neutral knits, another trend I have been seeing so far this fall/winter season is adding a bit of colour, especially neon. I think this has carried over from the summer when neon green seemed to be EVERYWHERE. Whether you choose a neon puffer jacket, like the Aritzia Super Puff, or simply a neon accessory such as a scarf or hat, there are so many ways to incorporate this trend into your style and budget!

I hope you enjoyed reading about these fall and winter trends. Whether you choose to incorporate them into your style or not, remember that fashion is all about being true to who you are! I would love to see your fall and winter fashion favourites, or how you have styled the above trends. Feel free to dm me or tag me in your looks on Instagram at @jonnicaahill! Happy styling.
