No matter what kind of music you listen to, there is a song for you on this playlist; why not spice up your holiday playlist this year?

Star Of Wonder – Tori Amos

“Star of Wonder” takes a fun spin on a traditional Christmas song. Tori Amos is an alternative rock singer-songwriter with a powerful voice and range. This song still has that traditional Christmas feel, while also switching things up for a change and exploring how Christmas songs can have creative changes made to them.

Let Me Sleep (It’s Christmas Time) – Pearl Jam

With all the hustle and bustle of shopping, visiting with family (even virtually), and daily life, Christmas time can be a little overwhelming. Pearl Jam captures this feeling perfectly in their song, “Please Let Me Sleep (It’s Christmas Time)”. Pearl Jam is a Seattle band that fell into the grunge era of the 1990s. With lead man, Eddie Vedder’s vocals conveying the emotion and exhaustion revolving around the need for relief from the stress of Christmas, and acoustic guitar to back, this song will help calm you down when the holidays become too much.

A Great Big Sled – The Killers

Known for their biggest hit “Mr.Brightside” released in 2004, The Killers, a rock band from Las Vegas, have some hidden Christmas songs. “A Great Big Sled” will have you reminiscing about your Christmas during your childhood, with lead singer Brandon Flowers singing about rolling around in the snow. With fun, upbeat instrumentals, featuring lots of bells, this song is perfect for driving in the car and admiring all the snow.

Christmas In Hollis – Run-D.M.C

Straight out of New York, Run-D.M.C was a hip-hop group formed in the 1980s. They have been regarded as one of the most influential acts in hip hop, collaborating with artists like Aerosmith, and bringing a new, more rock-based approach to hip hop. Their song “Christmas In Hollis” features a classic beat and fun lyrics about a Christmas night in Hollis, Queens. This song is sure to make you wanna groove and is filled with enough Christmas joy to lift your Christmas spirit.

Winter Birds – Ray LaMontagne

This one is for all you folk fans out there. Ray LaMontagne is a Grammy-winning, singer-songwriter from New Hampshire. His song “Winter Birds” was released in 2008. Though technically not a song about Christmas, the song lyrics follow a story of the narrator’s love for his partner, while describing beautiful winter scenery. The song features a slow acoustic guitar and with LaMontanges soft, sombre voice, it is pure perfection and any folk lover’s dream.

This playlist is a great way to add variety and change to those same old Christmas songs we hear every single year. If you’d like to listen to more check out my Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/user/7qdxrrqbki3jsvnxhmkqn3pk9?si=qV-tTb6JSd6XFLkUaiZDcQ
