You’re Invited To…How to Handle Wedding Crashers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

One of the most difficult parts of planning a wedding is the guest list. It can be very hard to decide who to invite, especially if you are looking to have a small wedding. However, sometimes your big day can be turned upside down with the arrival of wedding crashers. Although it is rare for this to occur, there are still instances where it can happen. Here are some tips and tricks to tackle the wedding crasher issue during your big day.

1. Make sure your event is the only event at that location that night

If your event is at a large venue, it is very possible that there could be other weddings or events going on at the same time. This could lead to an influx of wedding crashers, as they may be more likely to either walk into the wrong event or use this as a way to sneak in easier. By making sure that your event is the only one going on that night, you can ensure that this will not happen and it will be easier to spot those who may be attempting to crash.

2. Use a seating chart with name cards

Having name cards will force every guest to go up to the table and grab the correct one. If you see someone not go over to the table or someone without a card, it will be easier to spot a wedding crasher.

3. Keep your wedding small

Keeping your wedding small will allow you to be more aware of who is supposed to be there and make it easier to spot who is not.

4. Have a hostess or doorman

These people will help keep tabs on everyone coming in, making sure only the right people are coming into the wedding. It will also be useful if someone does crash, as they can be an outside source who can handle the issue.

Using these methods, it will be harder for someone to come and crash your wedding and allow for your big day to run smoothly.
