Rain is normally seen as a bad or dismal weather, but it can sometimes be quite calming. On campus, it can be hard to go out and about with a storm brewing, but there is plenty to do while staying dry. From self-care to time with friends, I’ve got a list of fun activities for you to try the next time it starts to drizzle.

Movie Night

Whether it be comedy, thriller, drama, or romantic comedy, log into Netflix or grab some DVDs from the library. Snuggle up in bed and pop some popcorn! You can’t go wrong with a little movie time to reboot yourself. It will relieve any stress you may be feeling and give you something fun to do on your own or with your roomie and friends.

Self-Care Night

We all need to refresh and rejuvenate our mind and body once in a while. With all of our homework, campus activities, and social life happenings, it’s hard to give ourselves a break. Pull out your face creams, essential oils, and comfort foods, and prepare to relax on the next rainy day we have.

Catch Up on Work

With all the nice weather we’ve been having, it can be hard to set aside time to do schoolwork or other tasks we don’t necessarily want to do. If you have work piling up but have been caught up in taking in the sunshine and fresh air, that’s okay. You can catch up or get ahead of work on a dreary day. Maybe turn your phone off for a bit, listen to the rain on your windows, and get to work!

Read

I know it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but if you love indulging yourself in a good book, then this is the perfect rainy day activity for you. The rain can make us feel drained and tired, so it could be helpful to regain and refresh yourself by picking up a page-turner.

Room Party

If you’re not feeling like being alone on the next rainy day at your campus, invite some friends over to hang out. Get some snacks and sodas and maybe even some games. It can be really nice to have some laughs and company to brighten up a cloudy day. It’s easy to start feeling lonely at college, but try reaching out to some friends.

So next time you’re bored and looking for something to do while mother nature decides to downpour, pick something you really enjoy and have not had the chance to do in a while. A rainy day can be really beneficial towards our mental health and stability.
