Back in March when everything was getting shut down because of the pandemic, no one knew how it would impact dance or any other sport/activity. Unfortunately, dance was impacted immensely. For me, as a member of the Lasell Dance Team it really was sad. Especially since we had performances coming up and we didn’t get to do them. As well as it being my first year on the team and not getting to compete or have our Spring showcase was disappointing.

However, I felt even sadder for my friends at my former dance studio who had this all come crumbling down the week they were supposed to compete. As well for the seniors as it would’ve been their last one and never got the chance. Despite all the setbacks, my dance teacher was determined to still give her students a recital. After months and months of preparation, they finally were able to go back to dancing in the studio in June. And finally, by August they were performing in smaller groups by class and having a set audience limit with the chairs spread apart.

My dance teacher had a videographer record all the performances and put it together as a DVD. Then it was shown one night at the drive-in for everyone to come to see and especially for those that didn’t get to be at the show in person. I’d say it was well worth the wait after watching the show and I hope next year things won’t be so chaotic and have fewer restrictions.
