These are Your Spring Fashion Must-Haves for 2020

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

With spring fast approaching and our hopefully corona-free adventures coming right after, it’s only natural that people are going to want to spruce up their wardrobes after not showcasing any looks for a while. So, for this week’s article, I bring to you some fashion must-haves that are so chic that everyone will be wanting them by the time we’re out of quarantine:

1. Bermudas

With business-casual looks coming back into style, the way we’re shaking it up this spring is by wearing them with Bermuda shorts instead! Comfy, trendy, and appropriate for the office, Bermuda shorts spice up any office look in every way. Pair with a brightly colored button-up and matching pumps or even a waistcoat and plaid trench coat for a truly modern look.

2. Bra tops

This spring it’s all about body positivity; and bra tops are in! Whether they’re crochet, neon, or a simple cotton blend, they’re going to be all the rage this spring; dress them up with a midi skirt or dress them down with some cut-off shorts, and don’t forget to walk like you own it.

3. Short shorts

Did I mention we’re into body positivity this spring? Well, I’ve got one more trend for you: hot pants are back! Show a little leg this season either with a sparkly high-waisted pair or a more casual pair of jean shorts.

4. Crochet

Crochet is no longer just for Coachella; it’s here to stay all season! Whether it’s a crochet poncho on a chilly morning, the new bathing suit cover-up you’ve been dying to wear, or the pretty white dress sitting in your closet, crochet is back and better than ever.

5. Waistcoats

Remember what I said about business casual? Well I’ve got the perfect garment to pair with those Bermudas! Waistcoats are back and more modern than ever before. Layer them under a trench coat for the office or with a pair of blue jeans and slouchy top for a more casual look.

6. Leather

I personally love leather in every season, but spring is where leather is at this year. Whether it’s a brightly colored leather jacket or the makings of an entire dress, leather is sure to catch anyone’s eye; just make sure it’s fake!

7. Busy patterns

So there’s floral and polka dots which are staples for any spring wardrobe, but lately we’ve been seeing more of an abstract boho look come into play. So whether it’s a maxi dress or one of your mom’s old sweaters, now’s the time to experiment with crazy patterns!

8. Neon

Nothing says spring like neon! A popular street-wear trend, neon clothing is certainly making its debut this spring in everything from tube tops to tie-dye socks! Nothing will make you look quite as tan as neon…and trust me, we could all use a tan.

9. The ’80s

The ’80s are back once again! From bright colors to puff sleeves to ruffles, the 80’s influence is strong this spring. I’m sure your mother has something you can borrow, but don’t forget the hairspray!

10. Midi length everything

A more modest spring trend, midi-length dresses, and skirts are the perfect options for this warmer weather. You can’t go wrong with a lace midi dress and cute pair of wedges!

Hi everyone! My name is Marisa Fertitta and I’m a freshman at Lasell University. I’m a fashion media major, but I also love to sing and play volleyball! Just a fun fact, my favorite color is pink. :)
