Over the years we have watched amazing women making their mark in sports. Take Serena and Venus Williams, Simone Biles, and Lindsey Vonn. Each of these women paved a path for themselves and other strong women in sports and made so many opportunities and dreams possible for girls all around the world. Here are some of the newest creations that will change how the world views women in sports throughout the future.

Women’s Hockey League

Women’s Hockey has been on the rise this year, with the first puck drop on January 1st, 2024. Before this year, there was a Women’s Hockey League in the US and Canada from 2015 to 2023. This new league has had an effect on the recognition of women in this sport. The original PWHL teams include Boston, New York, Minnesota, Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa. The PWHL is also run by women, including tennis stars Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss

First Women’s Soccer Stadium

For the first time in history, there is a stadium being built just for the National Women’s Soccer League. This stadium is being built to hold 11,000 viewers in Kansas City, Missouri. This is to be opened on March 16th of this year and is an incredible move forward in Women’s Sports History. The season tickets have been sold out for months now, and the team members are proud to be making a mark in what women’s sports looks like.

Caitlin Clark

Making a huge mark in Women’s Basketball, Caitlin Clark had a record-setting game against Ohio State on Sunday, March 3rd. This game was the most-watched women’s basketball game since 1999. Clark passed Pete Maravich as the career scoring leader in the NCAA Division 1. This is the third time straight that Clark has brought home the Big Ten Player of the Year. Caitlin Clark is a player that many girls will see and look up to, and it is amazing how far she has come.

Overall, 2024 is a huge year for women’s sports, and empowering young girls to follow their dreams.
