It’s holiday season. The time for family, friends, and gifts. Personally, I love this time of year. I love the snow, drinking hot chocolate, and getting a break from school.

A big staple for the holiday season is peppermint. Peppermint drinks, peppermint candies, and peppermint candy canes. I’ll admit, while I do enjoy peppermint, I don’t like peppermint candy canes. Instead, I like the fruity ones, and here are my reasons why.

Peppermint Is Strong

I’m not going to lie, I’m definitely an enjoyer of peppermint candies. However, only the small ones. Candy canes, while they come in many sizes, are usually on the larger size; at least the size of your hand. For me, that’s just a little too much peppermint. It’s a very strong flavor that’s best suited for smaller choices.

Multitude Of Flavors

Whether it’s Jolly Rancher, Skittles, or Starbursts, there are a multitude of flavors for fruity candy canes. You can mix and match your favorite ones, without having to stick to only peppermint. Or, use them as ornaments for a tree and hang them up. There’s no end to the usage of fruity candy canes.

They Won’t Mix Badly With Food

If you’re similar to me, during the holidays you’ll maybe have a candy cane before or after dinner. With peppermint candy canes, it’s similar to toothpaste: it doesn’t always mix well with other foods. The strong mint taste can ruin the taste of other foods. However, with flavored candy canes, the taste blends well.

Dyes Your Tongue

No matter the age, I believe everyone enjoys the moment when you eat something colorful and your tongue changes color. You turn around to friends or family, asking “what color is my tongue?” I know I’ve done that throughout my whole life, my friends have, even my grandparents. It’s the same with flavored candy canes- they stain your tongue a fun color.
