Ranking my Halloween costumes from “WOW” to “Did you even try?”

Halloween is my favorite holiday besides christmas. As a fashion girlie, it’s hard not to love Halloween when you have a day to dress like anything you want and no one can question it. With that being said, here are my personal costumes I’ve done in the past and this year that I loved!

  1. Disco Cow

By far my favorite costume. I love that I DIYed it and made it personal to me. With inspo from Doja Cat’s “Mooo!” song and Selena Quintilla’s iconic cow-print outfit, I designed my costume. I made cow-print flare pants and got a cow-print cropped jacket. I wore black ankle boots and just added the ears and tail!

  1. Inflatable man 2017

This costume tested my confidence and comfortability. As a natural introvert in highschool I wanted to see what it would be like to wear a big costume. I DIYed my inflatable man costume and had the most fun all day on Halloween during my junior year.

  1. Catwoman 2023

I always wanted to dress cute for Halloween as I got older. Especially with my love of Catwoman and her iconic catsuit, I decided to also DIY this costume and get a black jumpsuit and use my leather harnesses to decorate the top. I also did a smokey-eye with my cat makeup to give a sexier look. I felt so feminine; I loved it!

  1. Roach 2023

I wasn’t joking with my siblings and mom when I said I was going to be a bug at some point. So when I came across a TikTok video of a girl who made her own roach costume, I spent all night one day making my own. I can say that my costume was eco-friendly, because I used cardboard and brown bags! It was even more rewarding when I came downstairs and my family made fun of me because they don’t like roaches as they have PTSD from their New York City apartment days. I will be dressing like a bug in the future!

  1. Snow White 2022

Recreating one of my childhood looks, I decided to be Snow White when my roommates and I agreed to be Disney princesses for Halloween! It came out super cute at the end and we all looked so good!

  1. Astronaut 2021

With my love for science & NASA, I decided to be an astronaut! The white astronaut suit and NASA baseball cap was pretty comfy. However, I didn’t like how the bodysuit fit my body, so I would rank it low.

  1. Ninja Turtle 2017

I wanted to dress up this one Halloween for some reason even though I didn’t have any plans. But I was cute! I used my brother’s turtle-shell backpack and got the mask for my Leonardo costume.

I ranked my costumes based on my creativity and what was going on at the time. I felt that my most DIYed costumes made the most impact in my fashion and creativity when it comes to Halloween costumes. And frankly, after seeing all the creative Halloween costumes this year, I can definitely say the best costumes are the ones that are DIYed.
