An Open Letter To Our Hero, Bart Johnson

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

Dear Bart,

At a time when we’re not sure who we can trust in the film industry, you give us hope. We were introduced to you the first time we laid eyes on Zac Efron in High School Musical and were endlessly entertained by the single best line in the HSM franchise: “what the heck are those two doing sitting in a tree?!” Such passion for basketball, and hatred for Darbus. Who could deny the 13th and most important (and our favorite) member of their squad?

We were reintroduced to you right around the time of the tenth anniversary of HSM two years ago and you’ve been on our minds ever since. The first time we stumbled upon your Instagram we knew we had struck gold. We found out you were married to the Teen Witch herself, Robyn Lively, making you the brother-in-law to Blake and Ryan, which blew our minds but you quickly became our favorite member of this Hollywood Royal Family.

We learned that you were just like us, an HSM super fan. The franchise meant just as much to you as it did to us, sharing our favorite HSM memes with captions as long as my right arm talking about the movies, what you imagine happened to Coach Bolton after the end of the third movie, and your feud with Darbus— and we ate up every word. Not only are you a super fan, but you’re also great to your fans, always taking time to take photos and videos with fellow Wildcats, just as excited to meet them as they are to meet the Coach Bolton.

What we love most about you is that you’re everyone’s #1 fan. You use your platform to show love and support for your friends and family and talk about the real issues. You’ve proven time and time again that you’re the best dad, husband, brother, and friend, giving 110 percent to everyone in your life, setting an incredible example for all your fans. Your effort and optimism has not gone unnoticed.

So yes, in this time of uncertainty and disappointment in the actions of people in power, we admire you for sticking to your values and remaining true to yourself. You may not have known until now but you’ve become an unofficial member of our club since we implemented the “Bart Johnson Minute” into every club meeting where I do a dramatic reading of one of your Instagram posts to help inspire, motivate, and cheer up my team. In a way, you’re our Coach just as much as you are the Coach of the Wildcats.

Thanks for being the 26th and most important member of our squad, we wouldn’t be us without you.

With Admiration,

Corinne Hennessey and the Her Campus Lasell Team

Go Wildcats!

Our HC meetings aren’t meetings without the Bart Johnson Minute.
