Picking a place to eat in the cities of New York or Boston can be tough. There’s so many places that we often ask our friends for recommendations, or even go on TikTok to find a place if it’s a last minute decision. Having the opportunity to explore and live in both cities, here are some of my favorite restaurants and dessert spots to check out!

Boston

Taiwan Cafe

Location: Chinatown, Boston

Price: $

Recommend: Bao Buns & Shrimp Fried Rice

This restaurant is a life saver for a late night grab. They offer a range of Taiwanese food that you can share with friends, or you can enjoy a big plate of food for one! The portions for most of the entrees are large, so you can easily share it with someone. Even the appetizers could be their own meal! The prices were affordable and the vibe of the restaurant was very wholesome.

The Smoke Shop BBQ – Seaport

Location: Seaport District, Boston

Price: $$

Recommendations: Fried Chicken Sandwich, The Wings Plate, & Rack 1st Place Ribs

The place to be when you’re in the mood for tender ribs or a savory sirloin. As a fried food fanatic I enjoyed the crispy chicken sandwich the most. It was cute that they gave you a side of watermelon in addition to your side. If you enjoy crinkle cut fries, they make them at just the right texture and flavor. I’m excited to come back here again!

J.P Licks

Location: Newbury Street, Boston

Price: $-$$

Recommended flavors: Salted Caramel Cookies ‘n’ Cream & Brownie Brownie Batter

What’s visiting Boston without checking out Massachusetts’ very own ice cream chain? Everytime I go back and try a new flavor, it never disappoints. This ice cream shop is known for its ice cream, frozen yogurt, and house-roasted coffee. You can even bring home your own pint if you’d like!

New York City

Cantina Rooftop Bar

Location: 605 West 48th Street, New York

Price: $$

Recommendations: Pina Coladas, Mojitos, Carnitas Benedict & Nachos

If you’re out with your group of friends and want a nice view with delicious Latin food, this rooftop restaurant is your place. They have a wide selection of drinks, as well as tons of entrees and appetizers. From mojitos to pina coladas and margaritas, you will enjoy it all. On weekends, there’s a live DJ that does a great job on creating a lively vibe that goes with the restaurant’s photo-worthy interior. I enjoy going there for brunch because of their brunch menu, featuring both savory and sweet options. I recommend scheduling a reservation so you can arrive and go right in.

Eddie’s Sweet Shop

Location: 105-29 Metropolitan Ave #1, Queens, NY

Price: $

Recommendations: Sundaes, Vanilla Fudge Ice Cream, Coffee Chip Ice Cream, & Old-fashioned Soda Floats.

This old-fashioned ice cream shop fulfills your 50’s diner nostalgia. The oak brown interior features a stool stop area where you can sit and enjoy some ice cream. This ice cream shop is very wholesome to me as it carries a family-oriented vibe. All the ice cream is homemade, and delicious. This was the first place where I had homemade whipped cream, and let’s just say there is a difference! This is definitely a place to check out and a great spot to please your inner child.

I hope you add these places to your must-visit city wish list. These are places that I personally have enjoyed, and will most likely visit again to try more food and make more memories!
