Introduction

Earlier this April, I saw an amazing movie called Bring Her Back (2025). It was a terrifying horror that incorporated a great story and engaging characters with horrifying scenes. It was so good that I decided to write an article about my thoughts on the film.

What is Bring Her Back (2025)?

Bring Her Back is a horror film that was released in 2025. It was directed by Michael Philippou and Danny Philippou. It was written by Danny and Bill Hinzman. The film is entirely in English and was made by studios in the US and Australia. These studios are Salmira Productions, South Australian Film Corporation, Causeway Films, A24, and RackaRacka.

This film is about a teenage boy, Andy, and his blind little sister, Piper. Both of them end up in foster care after their father’s death and are taken care of by a woman named Laura. While there, Andy notices that their new foster sibling, Oliver, looks and acts strangely. Andy starts to get suspicious of Laura, unaware that she is planning something horrifying.

Is the Movie Good?

Of course, this movie’s plot would only be good if the film itself is worth watching. Thankfully, I really liked this movie. The main characters are fully fleshed out and sympathetic, including the movie’s main villain. For instance, the main villain’s motivations make her seem more desperate and sympathetic than evil. The film has many terrifying moments and is not solely reliant on jump scares. One moment that scared the hell out of me was the scene involving Oliver and a knife (I do not want to spoil this scene, so this vague description is all you get). The actors are great at their jobs. For example, the actress who plays Piper, Sora Wong, does a great job of depicting her as reliant on others due to her blindness as well as innocent in a way that does not infantilize her. In addition, the movie’s editing and cinematography are never hard to understand. The soundtrack is also great at building suspense in some scenes and emotion in others. Once again, the scene with Oliver and the knife is a good example of the former, and the film’s ending is a good example of the latter. The film’s dialogue also never feels unrealistic.

Is Bring Her Back (2025) Popular?

I am far from the only person who likes Bring Her Back (2025). The film appears to be well-liked, as it has an average rating of 3.7/5 stars on Letterboxd as of April 22nd, 2026. This is based on over 952,000 reviews for the movie. The film was also the third-highest rated horror movie that was released in 2025 on Letterboxd as of January 5th, 2026. Since this movie is popular, I can safely recommend it to others with the assurance that I am one of the many people who would enjoy it.

Who Would I Recommend Bring Her Back (2025) To?

As a popular and good horror film, I would recommend Bring Her Back (2025) to any horror movie fans. I would also recommend it to fans of foreign films, as it is an Australian movie.

However, there are also some people whom I would not recommend this film to. I would not suggest it to people who do not like horror films or prefer to avoid watching gory scenes in films, as well as kids too young to watch gore. Finally, I would not recommend the film to anybody who cannot handle or is too young to witness mature themes like child abuse and underage drinking.

Do I Want a Sequel to the Film to be Made?

While I do recommend that more people watch Bring Her Back (2025), I, frankly, do not want there to be a sequel to the film. I truly believe that the film’s ending provides a satisfying ending to its story, and a sequel could undermine it by creating new loose ends. In addition, I do not want the film to become a franchise as multiple films could create even more loose ends and provide multiple chances for the creation of disappointing sequel(s).
