Let’s Talk About The New Joy Razor

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

Recently, the new Joy Razor by Gillette has been getting a lot of buzz on the internet. The Joy razor is a  subscription service for $10 a month, made to compete with the five-dollar shave club. The shaving kit includes the razor, two blades, and the glee shaving cream. This razor has been taking the internet by storm with commercials and paid advertisements on social media.

I was excited when I first as this product because I saw a lot of potentials. I also thought that it was cute how they had multiple color options- I opted for the pink one. I really liked how simple the design was and was excited to try the product. I had high hopes, thinking this could be my new razor.

However, after using this product for a month I am highly disappointed in his razor and decided to switch back to my Venus sensitive razor. This razor highly irritated my skin and left a lot of bumps. Even with the five-blade design, it was struggling to cut my leg hair and I would have to go over a spot multiple times, which is a big no-no. The quality of the blade sucks and it doesn’t even stay sharp beyond first-time use.  If you were expecting a smooth shave then you will be disappointed. I have had better results with dollar store razors!!!!

This has way too much hype for a mediocre product. Gillette has better products, don’t waste your time. If you’re looking for a Gilette-Venus razor I would suggest Gilette-Venus Smooth Sensitive with four razor heads for $16.99, which is a comparable value.
