Are you an overthinker? Me too! I know how it feels to be anxious and have your thoughts go all over the place when anxiety walks into your brain’s room. Over the past few weeks, I have had trouble dealing with it. As I ought for a journal, I find the aftermath of just writing it down very relieving.
Here are some prompts that have helped me get down my thoughts:
- Today I’m thankful for….
- Write a letter to yourself. Talk to yourself as someone you love. If you could go to yourself for advice, what advice would you give them on your current issue, thoughts etc. Advocate for yourself the best you can!
- What would it look like if I forgave myself?
- Write a letter to the issue. If it’s a person, you can write a letter of what you would tell them…
- Today I should let go of….
- Make a t-chart. On one side write about what’s going wrong in life. On the other side, write about what’s going well in life.
- What would little-me think of now? What does she need?
Remember when you’re journaling, be as honest as you can. No one is looking at the paper or journal but you! On another note, making the commitment to journal can be hard. Especially being consistent. It’s not needed to always journal because we do have our busy and off days. But, if you need another listener to vent to, your journal will be your paper best friend.
