Two words. Heck yeah! If you are on Booktok and haven’t heard of The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, then you are on the wrong side of Booktok. Like most bookworms, my TBR is never-ending so I try to read books I already own and table book recommendations, from friends or TikTok, into my notes app. But after seeing all the hype and getting snippets of this book, I caved and bought it, AND read it instead of letting it sit on my bookshelf! Let me tell you if you have been hesitant, this is your sign, run to your closest books store right now, well after you finish reading this article of course.
This book is the perfect balance of everything. You’ve got your academia, but it is not just a college rom-com, it is a graduate-level romcom. You have women in STEM and an accurate representation of how time-consuming pursuing your graduate degree in the STEM field is. And of course, the “I hate everyone but her” / “grumpy meets sunshine” trope. It also is a little spicy if you are into that, which let’s be honest I know you are. I will say if you are searching for spice with a little plot, this is not your book, this is more plot with some spice.
Did I forget to mention this also has the fake-dating trope? I can confidently say this book will get you out of a reading slump if you are in one. You fall in love with the characters and the relationship Adam and Olive have. So if The Love Hypothesis has been on your TBR, it is time to take it off and crack it open, happy reading bookworms!
