Introducing Me- Julia LaPlante

Julia LaPlante is a freshman at Lasell University. She’s from Westhampton, a tiny rural town in western Massachusetts. Julia is an English major with a love for reading and writing and a goal of one day being a librarian. She joined Her Campus to follow these passions and join a group of women with the same interests. Writing is a new interest of hers and she is eager to improve her skills. She is especially excited to write about her favorite movies and books and explore nuanced topics on campus. Along with Her Campus, Julia is also part of the Student Government Association at Lasell as a Student Senator. She is an avid believer in standing up for what you believe in and helping others use their voice. 

When her nose isn’t in a book, Julia can often be found watching movies and TV and listening to music. Her favorite films are Legally Blonde, Pride and Prejudice (2005 of course), and the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. For music, she primarily listens to indie rock and woman-led punk bands. However, she does have a soft spot for Olivia Rodrigo. She also loves podcasts such as “Binchtopia”, “The Adventure Zone”, and “Ologies”. Julia identifies as a nerd and is ecstatic to learn about niche topics and any subject with a lot of lore.

When her nose is in a book Julia loves to read YA contemporary fiction, YA fantasy, and graphic novels. She tends to read primarily LGBTQ+ stories and loves happily ever after endings. If she was forced to pick a favorite book it would be “Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe”. 

Julia is extremely excited to join the Her Campus team and cannot wait to start writing!
