International Women’s Day: Interviewing My Best Friend and Fellow Her Campus Member Kyra

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

My name is Eileen McCarthy and I interviewed my best friend Kyra Dolan for International Women’s Week. I am going to summarize what I learned during the interview, keep reading to find out more.

Kyra is originally from Medway, Massachusetts and is 20 years old. She is currently a preschool teacher and babysitter whilst being a full-time college student. She is a junior Elementary Education major at Lasell University and she hopes to be a teacher once she graduates. When I asked her why she wanted to become a teacher she said, “I’ve always loved working with children and I want to be able to have the opportunity to provide a safe and effective learning experience for every child.”

She hopes to teach young girls in her classroom that they are capable of anything that they put their mind and effort towards in life. Kyra also wants them to know that she is a resource or support for them even after they leave her classroom. Outside of school and in her personal life, she loves to bake, go on hikes, read, and go to the gym (like everyday). Lastly, her proudest accomplishment to date is being able to find a routine that makes her more productive because it impacts her everyday life for the better.

I chose to interview Kyra because she has become one of my best friends in the past year and though I know most things about her, there’s always more to learn and discover. When thinking of a woman in my life to interview I chose her because I have never seen a stronger, more dedicated, passionate, and hardworking woman in my life. Therefore, it seemed fit to write a whole article only about her. Happy International Women’s Day!
