How to *Finally* Enjoy Your Short Weekend Visits Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

Going home for a weekend can be very overwhelming. All of your family and friends want to spend time with you and you only have two days to fit them all in. It gets even worse if you are coming home for an event because it means you only have one day to spend time with a lot of people, which can be both stressful and exhausting, and you can barely even fit them all in. Being home is also not the norm, especially since you’ve been at school for a few months, so just being home can be nerve-wracking and a weird adjustment, sometimes all you want to do is just go right back to school. Here are some tips to actually enjoy a weekend at home without being stressed:

Spend time with your family

If you are going to spend time with anyone this weekend, you need to devote time to your family. They are the ones who are missing you the most, sending you cards and care packages, calling you, etc. Any time you spend with them is going to make their day and will create lasting memories between you and them.

Go out with friends

Your friends are also going to be excited to see you. A fun idea to do with your friends is going out- whether it be for food, to a movie or even just for a drive. It will allow you to go on adventures you will remember forever.

Make time for YOU

Being home and having everyone on top of you can be stressful. At school, you are given all the freedom you want and all the time to yourself you could want. It can be overwhelming to have everyone surrounding you, so make sure to take some time for yourself. You could take a nap, go for a walk, watch some Netflix, anything to make you feel more relaxed and less stressed about being home.

Going home for the weekend is supposed to be fun, not stressful. Implement some of these tools to make sure your weekend can be full of fun and excitement.
