Great Professors of Lasell: Marie Franklin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

If you are a Communication major, one of the professors you have to take a class with at Lasell is Professor Marie Campagna Franklin. Professor Franklin teaches five different classes here: COM209 Journalism, COM314 Magazine and Feature Writing, COM324 Journalism II, COM205 Media Ethics and Society, and FYS: Italian Food, Film and Culture. She is also the faculty advisor for The 1851 Chronicle.

Before working at Lasell, Professor Franklin taught English at three different high schools in Massachusetts: Marlboro, Lynnfield and Winchester. During her time at these schools, she also taught drama, coached debate teams, and headed the newspaper at one of the schools. After teaching, she started to work at the Boston Globe, specializing in editing and education. Professor Franklin worked at the Globe for 24 years before coming to Lasell in 2007 to start teaching journalism.

Professor Franklin is a great professor to have at Lasell because she is always willing to help students succeed. According to her, the most important information we can learn from her classes is to “Develop confidence as writers and become readers of news.” Don’t be afraid to sign up for a class with Professor Franklin, because they are definitely worth it if you want to be successful in the future.
