Fun Dorm Activities to Keep You Sane While Stuck in Your Room

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

Being back on campus this semester is very different than we are used to. Gone are the days that we are hanging out in our friends room until one a.m., and here come the nights where we sit in our dorms with nothing to do. Due to this, we need to find things to do to keep ourselves occupied and not go insane. Here are some fun activities everyone will enjoy:

  1. Homework: Yes, this might not be fun, but it is crucial to keep your grades up. Try to do your homework as early in the day as possible, to avoid all-nighters, and to allow yourself some relaxation time at the end of the day.

  2. Movie/TV Show marathons: binge-watching your favorite shows can definitely help pass the time! Disney +, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime all have great and exciting shows for you to watch. You can also turn this into a fun night with your roommate. My roommate and I have been binging Hannah Montana while having dinner and jamming to all of our old, favorite songs.

  3. Arts and Crafts: This seems to be a popular resolution to isolation boredom at Lasell. Before I moved into school, I went to Five Below and purchased a calligraphy set and an adult coloring book, each item being less than five dollars, to give me something to do when I did not have homework. I also brought a paint by number in case I was feeling extra artsy one day.

  4. Read: There have been many good books coming out recently, on all different topics. Starting a new series could be a great new project during this time!

These activities allow you to have fun and enjoy being on campus, even when the new rules have made it hard for you to do so. Let us know some of the ways you are keeping busy at school!
