Forget the Grinches, You can Start Celebrating the Holiday Season on November 1st

As Halloween comes to a close on October 31st at 11:59 p.m., I start queuing up my Christmas playlist. When midnight hits on November 1st, I press play and the holiday season has begun. The Halloween decorations then swiftly come down, and I start preparing for Christmas.

I know what many of you are thinking, it is way too early! However, I am a firm advocate for celebrating the holiday season (if you celebrate, of course) whenever it feels right to you! Whether that is right after Thanksgiving, December 1st, or right after Halloween, live your truth!

The holiday season is more about decorations and superficialness. It invokes feelings of jolliness, happiness, and coziness for many. Your space reflects how you feel. Personally, an organized, clean space makes me feel productive. A merry space makes me feel joyful. Why would I wait to feel those positive feelings until December 1st? Put up your decorations, get a Christmas tree, and watch Hallmark Christmas Movies when you want some good feelings.

I often hear from my naysaying friends that November is for Thanksgiving. It is a great holiday with delicious food. I have a lot to be thankful for, but can’t I be thankful for the holiday season? Thanksgiving is better celebrated with Christmas decorations up, it adds to the coziness of Thanksgiving.
If you are anything like me and want to start celebrating the holiday season in early November, my best advice is to forget the Grinches! Start listening to your Christmas playlist, hang up some tinsel, grab a Peppermint Mocha or your favorite holiday beverage, and start enjoying those jolly feelings!
