Workout equipment can be as simple as a yoga mat. Equipment doesn’t necessarily need to be a rack of weights in order to help you get stronger. This article discusses some simple workout equipment that can help you achieve your fitness goals. No matter what your goals are, this list is the perfect place to get started when it comes to starting or working on your home gym.

1. Dumbbells

If you are looking to add resistance to your daily workouts, dumbbells are the way to go! They help you with building strength and continually help you to get stronger. They are also a good piece of equipment to have if you’re looking to make a workout more challenging. You may want to start smaller with something like 5lbs and then you can increase as you go. Increasing by 5’s or 2’s will gradually improve your body strength and improve form.

2. Yoga Mat

Having a yoga mat readily available in your home has so many more uses than just when you’re in the mood to do yoga. You can use yoga mats on rugged floors, cement floors, on the grass… plus, since they’re so easily portable, you can take your mat everywhere! The soft cushion of the mat helps support the body from harmful surfaces.

3. Ankle weights

Adding resistance to any light physical activity works super well when you have small weights, like ankle weights, on hand. For pilates, leg day, or even just walking up and down your driveway, ankle weights are a fantastic way to add additional resistance.

4. Wrist weights

Similar to ankle weights, wrist weights are a lighter weight that is perfect for everyday exercises. When it comes to fitness, they are good when paired with activities like walking, boxing, or yoga. They are also excellent for wearing around the house while doing chores.
