Easy-Bake Ovens Were Not Overrated- Here’s Why

I’ve been baking ever since I can remember. When I was in elementary school I would make blueberry muffins in my Easy-Bake before we had to leave for the day. This soon turned into making desserts for my family’s holidays. 

Baking was something I grew up on, surprisingly, because no one else in my family was a baker. My dad couldn’t really cook, but we always watched the Food Network together, where I actually learned a lot. Cupcake Wars was my favorite show and I always wanted to make confections like the people on the show. 

Unlike other hobbies, my love for baking never died down. Easter and Christmas at my grandparents were always accompanied by a flourless chocolate cake, and boredom on the weekends resulted in begging my mom to allow me to make a batch of cookies. She didn’t like having them in the house, so I just made them when she wasn’t home. 

Fast forward to 2020, when quarantine hit I had a lot of trouble staying in the house. I was going stir crazy and just wanted to do something I liked. My mom and I made bread together, and on the days she let me bake sweets, I would leave them in my friends’ mailboxes. 

I don’t foresee my love for baking leaving anytime soon, especially since it’s also turned into cooking as well. However, this isn’t really an issue, because everyone loves good food.
