A widespread lack of funds for almost everything besides food is a feeling that can be felt across campuses nationwide. At this point, “broke” has become an adequate feeling to describe how college is going for all of us. There’s too much to do and not enough money to pay for it all. Amongst this list of experiences to have, dating is a lot of them. The dating scene for college students is surprisingly vast given how many of us are calling ourselves “broke.” For students coming in with relationships and those meeting their significant other in college alike, dating is happening and we’re left to figure out how to do it—on a budget or preferably free.

Here are some fun ideas for dating on a budget.

  1. Art in the Park

Pack some watercolors and snacks and head out to a local park or reservation and paint what you see. Be sure to stick around for the sunset for a romantic aspect!

  1. Drive somewhere interesting and take some cool pictures.

3. Fancy dinner at home

Find a cool recipe that neither of you have had before and have fun in the kitchen

4. Paint war or water balloon fight (less messy, but where’s the fun in that?)

5. YouTube bonding challenges

“Try not to laugh challenge:” one person holds water in their mouth while the other does and says anything to make you laugh and spit the water out, alternate turns

“Yoga challenge:” have fun trying out some fun and challenging couples yoga poses. This doubles as a workout session too!
