Creative Fall Nail Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

It’s that time of the year again. The weather is getting colder, leaves are changing colors, and you’re breaking out the sweaters and boots. It’s fall, and when it comes to nails that means no more bright pinks, greens, and blues. Here’s some stylish ways to do your nails for the fall season.

Starting off simple and easy, just look for polishes in a deep purple, red, blue, orange, olive green, gray, gold, or even a bright scarlet red. Go for the darker, deeper shades of colors, because those tend to be more fall appropriate.

If you like a little sparkle, this ombre look incorporating fall colors is a fun way to add some sparkle to your look, or you can go full out glitter and really make your nails stand out.

Another easy nail design is adding studs to a fall palette of your choosing. You can use just one color to accentuate with studs, or mix it up. It is a classy and clean look that is so simple to do.

You can also use the beautiful outdoors as an inspiration. This requires a bit more skill, but is the ultimate way to express the beauty of the fall season on your nails. You can paint on trees or leaves, or to make it simpler just use leaf decals for the same effect. To make it even more fun, paint or add decals of pumpkins, apples or anything else fall related.

Another simple and classy look is picking one color and painting all nails, but choosing one for an accent nail. That nail can either have a design, different color, or sparkles. The point is to make it different from the others. This look works year round, but using one of the fall colors makes it work for this season.

A design technique that has become very popular is the sponge technique. By taking little pieces of a sponge, dipping them in different colors, and dabbing them onto your nails it creates this really cool design that almost has the effect of fall leaves, if you choose the right colors.

The final design which probably involves the most amount of skill, is doing an argyle design with fall colors. This design takes a lot of time and patience, but it is perfect for fall, giving off a cozy, fall sweater vibe.

These are just a few of the many ways you could go with designs and colors for fall. Just be creative and think outside the box because there are so many fun, stylish, and classy ways to design your nails for this season.
