Costumes for the Classy Collegiette

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

It’s time to mix up the Halloween trend of “less is more”. Really, ladies, less is literally just less. With everyone’s favorite dress up (or down) day of the year just around the corner, Lasell’s Her Campus team decided it was time to spew out a few ideas about some classier costume options that what have been seen around campus in the past. Sorry to disappoint, but there will be no duct tape and beer carton combos on this list.

Instead we choose to salute the strong, and yes, some of them are pretty damn sexy, women of historical and fictional worlds we live in. Not to mention, that these are all perfect ideas for last minute costumes and can easily be found in anyone’s closet, fashion major or otherwise.

10) Rosie the Riveter-She’s a classic Icon that portrays the strength women are capable of. But don’t forget the red lipstick!

9) Coco Chanel-She changed the world of fashion, by making herself the example.

8) Black Widow- This Marvel character is probably the most bad ass of the bunch. Any human who can keep up with super beings like the Hulk and Captain America deserves a round of applause. Plus, the all-black get up is a perfect last minute look.

7) Audrey Hepburn “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”- Nothing says classic like pearls, a little black dress and flawless updo.

6) Missandei- One of the unsung heroes of “Game of Thrones”, she is often seen at Daenerys Targaryen’s side, but holds her own grace and strength. Not to mention, with the right twisting and turning her dress of choice can be replicated with a bed sheet.

5) Orange is the New Black- Whether going solo or planning a group outing, any one of these women would be a solid costume choice. Just remember to slap on a tattoo or five to be character authentic!

4)Katniss Everdeen- Okay, so she’s had this going for a few years. But let’s be real, who wouldn’t want to emulate everyone’s favorite “Hunger Games” female victor? Just don’t forget the bow and braid to go with the all black outfit.

3) Michelle Obama-Get your classy on and replicate our first lady. Just remember to add in some arm workouts the week before to really get the full Mama Obama effect.

2) Queen Elizabeth II-Come on, you know you secretly wanted a reason to rock that hat.

1)Esmerelda “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”-So we had to splurge and put one Disney all-star in here. Esmerelda makes the cut because of her ‘fight for what’s right’ attitude and altogether killer gypsy style that with todays boho vibes flowing world wide, should be easy to find in your closet.
