We all know and love our favorite popular female artists, like Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Dua Lipa. They’re great! They have good music, catchy lyrics, and are really successful, with tons of awards and recognition. But, we can always use new music, and especially from less popular female artists! Here are a few great ones everyone is really missing out on, and you should definitely take a look at!

1. Phoebe Bridgers

With almost 56,000 Spotify followers, Phoebe Bridgers is just too underrated. She’s Lana Del Rey if Lana Del Rey spent a week in the woods and tuned into her “indie-folk” roots. She has the perfect combination of melodic instrumentals and sometimes, very raw lyrical arrangements. Phoebe manages to capture the listener by both voice and by instrumentals, and her recent live performance on Conan proved that she is capable of singing beautifully live. Phoebe Bridgers is truly an underrated female artist, and shouldn’t be underestimated.

Songs to check out by Phoebe Bridgers: Motion Sickness, Smoke Signals, and Scott Street

2. Allie X

With around 164,000 Spotify followers, Allie X has a pretty decent following. However, her songs are actual fire…think Melanie Martinez during the second semester of art school in LA. She’s a little pop, a little electronic, a little melodic. Allie X also opened for Troye Sivan, giving her a nice little boost in the pop music world. However, Allie X is definitely someone to listen to, and with her new album coming out sometime in October, she truly is an artist to keep an eye out for.

Songs to check out by Allie X: Science, Simon Says, and Paper Love

3. Natalie Prass

With only 30,000 Spotify followers, Natalie Prass is the beginning of something magical in the indie scene. Her voice is sweet and her lyrics are sometimes very quirky, but something you can oddly vibe to at the same time. She’s soft spoken but her lyrics pack quite the punch. Natalie has got a variety of songs that are heavy influenced indie jams but also songs that take a dip into jazz infusion. Her songs capture the feeling of regret, unrequited love, and anger. Her instrumentals take you along for the ride of her brilliant lyrics. Natalie Prass has the potential to be something BIG, so watch out for her!

5. Soccer Mommy

With around 43,000 Spotify followers, Soccer Mommy is the girl-fronted band we’ve all been waiting for. Her songs range from angst driven to melodic and gentle, she’s cool without even trying and her lyrics just seem so right. She’s effortlessly cool, her songs are totally something you could play after a break-up, or when you’re just starting to fall in love. Speaking from my own experience, she plays music you could listen to for hours and not even get bored of! Every song is fresh and new and pulls up a certain feeling within the listener.

Songs to check out by Soccer Mommy: 3am at a Party, Scorpio Rising, and Cool

6. Charlotte Lawrence

With around 97,000 Spotify followers, Charlotte Lawrence is an underrated pop princess. Her songs sound a little like Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, the perfect mix of harsh, sometimes emotional lyrics, but also lyrics you can see yourself singing on a road-trip to the beach. She’s pop with a bit of an edge, but still just as catchy.

Songs to check out by Charlotte Lawrence: Stole Your Car, I Bet, and Young and Reckless

Make sure to give a listen to all these totally amazing and very underrated amazing artists. You won’t regret it if you do!
