6 Places to Eat Around Town

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

Everyone at Lasell College knows that when the weekend comes around, it’s a ghost town on campus.  Sure, there’s homework to be done and Boston is only a T ride away, but sometimes it’s good to spice it up.  Whether it’s going out to eat with a few friends or just looking to explore other areas, Newton is close and convenient and should definitely be checked out!

1.   The Local

The Local is a great ‘gastropub’ in Newton to grab lunch or dinner.  Located on Washington St., it’s best known for its great variety of food, friendly staff, and warm atmosphere.  Not only is it a restaurant with local food, but it’s a bar too.

2.   Knotty Pine

The Knotty Pine is a short walk from Lasell and a personal favorite for breakfast.  It’s a small and cozy restaurant open daily for breakfast and lunch hours.  Most of the customers that come in are regulars, so it’s welcoming to see familiar faces.  They pride themselves on being family owned and operated and having a clean and friendly atmosphere.

3.   Fiorella’s

Fiorella’s is THE place for Italian food in Newton. Known for their signature sauce, they have everything from breadsticks to seafood to pasta.  Side note: the calamari is highly recommended.

4.   Tom’s Pizza & Sandwich Shop

Tom’s Pizza shop is a cute little restaurant located a few doors down from the Knotty Pine and is walking distance from Lasell. They have a wide variety of food and are most famous for their pizza, sandwiches, burgers, salads, calzones, and pasta.  They have been family owned and operated since 1964.

5.   Tango Mango

In the mood for Mexican food? Tango Mango is the place in Newton to go for it.  They have the highest quality and tastiest authentic Mexican food.  The atmosphere is colorful and the prices are decent, making it worth the trip.

6.   Moody Street

Not interested in a full meal but still want to explore? Take a walk on Moody Street in nearby Waltham! The street is filled with great bars, perfect for a Saturday night out.
