5 Things to Do in Boston This Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

College has just started back up again, and I couldn’t be happier to be back in the Boston area. With Boston being such a tourist/college area, there are always tons of events going on, especially in the first few months of school being back in session.

1.     The Lawn on D

Looking for a way to literally swing into the new school year? The Lawn on D, located in South Boston, has an interactive art installation/playground implement that includes LED swings, created by Howeler and Meejin Yoon.  Not only are there cool swings that are the perfect photo spot, but there is almost always a live band performing as well and an open bar.  While it’s still open for the season this warm September, take a trip down to see the infamous glowing swings.

2.     MFA Film: To Kill a Mockingbird

Looking for a movie night out with your friends? Stop at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston!  The new exhibition “Annette Lemieux: Mise en Scéne” features new artworks based on the American classic and on Sept. 28, the art museum is kicking off the exhibit with the 1962 classic.  Tickets for the event can be bought here.

3.     College Night: Museum of Science, Boston

Interested in seeing a museum, but the Museum of Fine Arts isn’t your thing?  Stop by the Museum of Science in Boston on Sept. 22 for their College Night.  With this, you can explore all the exhibit halls in the museum for free with a valid college ID. There are also going to be music shows where you can watch visuals in the Charles Hayden Planetarium while listening to top hits from artists like Coldplay, Radiohead, Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake.

4.     Glow Campus Boston

The House of Blues in Boston is known for their concert space, and on Sept. 29, they are hosting a rave with live music featuring DJ Mashd N Kutcher, aerialists, and glowing paint.  This totally unique event is perfect for a party night out with your friends. Tickets for the event can be bought here.

5.     College Fashion Week

Of course the must go-to event of the month is Her Campus’ fashion show, College Fashion Week.  Her Campus teamed up with Primark, Ulta Beauty, PopSugar, It Cosmetics, and others to provide an unforgettable experience for the Boston fashionista.  This event, hosted at the Royale Sept. 23, allows you to get a preview of fall’s hottest trends and get pampered with goody bags from the event.  Make sure you grab your tickets for this event here soon!
