5 Great Sustainable & Affordable Clothing Brands You Need To Get Your Hands on ASAP

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

In honor of Earth Day, Her Campus Lasell is committed to living sustainably not just for the one day, but every day (because the Earth is literally dying).  Where do you even begin?  This week we will be breaking down how to live sustainably in every aspect of life–  style, beauty, college life, and yes even in your relationships. So sit back, relax, and get ready to make the switch to eco-friendly.

Personally, I am very passionate about the issue of fast fashion. After graduation, I plan on working for the fashion industry and the amount of pollution that comes from it is scary. It can sometimes be hard to focus on living more eco-friendly when you’re on a college budget, but there are many options out there that really won’t break the bank. Here are five of the best sustainable, but affordable, clothing brands that can be shopped online and delivered right to your door!

1.Everlane

This is an ethically made eco-friendly men’s and women’s apparel store. They also have shoes and accessories. For those of you who turn basics into boldness, Everlane is right up your alley. Their basics come with a twist, whether it’s a little flair in an A-line dress or tees in stunning colors. Their price range for these basics is typically $25-$50.

2.PACT

They are an organic, GOTS Certified, fair trade, and eco-friendly brand that carries women’s, men’s, and children’s apparel. If you’re on the hunt for super soft basics that are long-lasting, look no further than PACT. Their range of basics includes everything from leggings to underwear, tees to hoodies. They offer fair pieces for everyone in the family, toddler and baby included. Given their affordable prices and high quality, a purchase from PACT is sure to be a steal.

3.ThredUP

An upcycling brand that carries women’s and children’s clothing and accessories. thredUP is a dream if you’re looking to clean your closet out of old clothes and grab some new styles at a fraction of the cost.  Acting as an online thrift store, they sell everything from dresses to outerwear to handbags at a nearly 90% markdown. They also carry designer name brands!

4.Alternative Apparel

The clothing here is made from sustainable and eco-friendly materials. They use non-toxic and low-impact dyes. Alternative Apparel is a one-stop shop if you’re searching for loungewear, gift sets for friends and family, or accessories like scarves and socks. They use recycled materials and processes whenever possible.

5.Thought Clothing

Thought is an organic, eco-friendly, and sustainable clothing brand that carries men’s and women’s, and accessories. It is a UK brand, but they ship worldwide. Their clothing is made from cotton, bamboo, and hemp. They have many unique colors and gorgeous styles. They have more than just basics, they offer apparel ranging from nightwear to dresses to knitwear.

Shopping eco-friendly can be expensive, but hopefully at least one of these brands speaks to your style and budget range!
