As a gamer, I love learning interesting fun facts about gaming. Whether it be facts about the development processes of games that I like or insight into the wider gaming world, I find the topic very interesting. As such, I decided to write an informational article about statistics related to video games. I hope you find these facts as interesting as I did.
- The Philippines has the Highest Percentage of Internet Users who Play Video Games
As of 2025, the Philippines has the highest percentage of gaming internet users at 97.1% of all users. In second place is Indonesia with 95.9% of its users. Third is India with 94.2% of internet users. Next is Saudi Arabia, with ninety-four percent of its internet users being gamers. Finally, in fifth place is Thailand with 93.2% of its gamers.
- More Video Games Rated by the ESRB IN 2024 Were Rated E than Any Other Age Rating
Out of all the games rated by the Entertaining Software Rating Board (ESRB), forty-nine percent were rated E. For context, E-rated games are appropriate for everybody, regardless of age. Twenty-three percent of rated games were rated T. Games with this age rating are suitable for gamers 13 and older. Sixteen percent of rated games were rated E10+. These games are appropriate for gamers 10 years old and older. Meanwhile, twelve percent of the games that were rated were rated M. This is the age rating for games that are meant for ages 17 and older.

In 2025, the Entertainment Software Association surveyed 24,216 gamers across twenty-one different countries that are on six different continents. Out of these gamers, fifty-one percent were male. Meanwhile, forty-eight percent were female. This means that the gaming community worldwide has a nearly equal gender split.
- Shooter Games are the Most Popular Genre Among American Military Veterans Who are Gamers
Among American military veterans who are gamers, shooters are the most popular gaming genre. Fifty-five percent of them play shooter games more than any other genre. In second place are RPG/MMORPG/MOBA games, which are played more than any other genre by thirty-nine percent of gaming veterans. Sports games are in third place with thirty-one percent. Action-adventure games are in fourth place with twenty-eight percent. In fifth place are fighting games with nineteen percent.

As of 2025, twenty-three percent of gamers are younger than eighteen. Twenty-eight percent are between the ages of eighteen and thirty-four. Twenty percent are between the ages of thirty-five and forty-nine. Finally, with more gamers than any other age group, twenty-nine percent of gamers are over fifty.
- Most K-8 Teachers in the United States Use Video Games to Teach their Students
Seventy-four percent of teachers who teach K-8 students incorporate video games into their curriculum as a teaching tool. Meanwhile, seventy-two percent of K-8 teachers have found that using video games as a teaching tool leaves “a positive impact in the classroom”.

The American video game industry has created 262,800 jobs in the country. Of those jobs, 104,000 were direct jobs while 158,800 were indirect jobs. Finally, 18,000 were remote jobs.
- China Makes More Money in Gaming Revenues than Any Other Country
China has made more money in gaming revenue than any other country, with $49.8 billion. The United States of America is a close second with $49.6 billion in gaming revenue. Japan is a distant third at $16.8 billion. South Korea is in fourth place with $6.6 billion. Germany is in fifth place with $6.6 billion.

As of 2025, eighty-nine percent of gamers were not queer. Meanwhile, nine percent of gamers were.

As of November 27th, 2025, the most viewed game on Twitch that year was League of Legends (2009). In second place was Grand Theft Auto V (2013). In third was Counter-Strike (2000). In fourth was Valorant (2020). In fifth was World of Warcraft (2004).
