The Winter Workout Playlist

When it’s cold, wet and windy outside, the last thing most of us want to do is get on the treadmill, but with the supermarkets already stocking up on the mince pies and other Christmas goodies, you can’t give up on that toned tummy you’ve spent all summer maintaining! 

So, here’s our top ten workout tracks that will take you from the bed to the treadmill, and help you power on through those tough training sessions.

 

1.      Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass

It’s impossible to avoid, so let’s get this one out of the way first. You don’t need to know its chart stats to know it’s an uplifting tune; perfect to get you out of bed and in the mood to move.

2.      Pharrell – Gust of Wind

Although the beat may be a bit slow for running, this song will get your energy levels up during your walk/bus rides to the gym, or keep you pumped during your slower intervals.

3.      Jess Glynne & Clean Bandit – Real Love

Another one to get you in the mood; it’s catchy and has that big club beat behind it to really get your heart rate up.

4.      Parra for Cuva – Wicked Games

Whether or not you remember the classic original version of ‘Wicked Game’ by Chris Isaak back in the ‘90s, the energetic beat and chilling vocals of this modern remake will whisk you off to another world, and before you know it you’ve already blasted out nearly 6 minutes of your workout!

5.      The Vamps – Cecilia

Yes, it’s cheesy – but whether you’re a boy-band lover or not, you can’t help but get caught up in the happy vibes of this adorable and catchy tune from pop quartet, The Vamps.

6.      Cheryl – I Don’t Care

‘I Don’t Care’: whether you saw her might-be-miming, definitely-nip-slipping performance on X-Factor, (sorry-not-sorry), this track is perfect to help you shake off your inhibitions and get your sweat on.

7.      Andy C & Fiora – Heartbeat Loud

The definition of a club banger, this little number is here to pick you back up when you start flagging – you can do it, just three tracks left…

8.      Jungle – Busy Earnin’

Made popular by its appearance on the FIFA ’15 soundtrack, ‘Busy Earnin’ has all the makings of a top workout track: from its retro vocals and uplifting brass riffs to its energetic dance music video, let the music flow as you channel your inner Wayne Rooney (or not).

9.      Wiley – On A Level

It’s time for the final push, and this classic ‘old-skool’ Wiley track is fast-paced and fun – you’ll find yourself trying to keep up with the speed of his rapping as you sprint to the finish line!

10.   Milky Chance – Down by the River

Congratulations!  You made it to the end of your workout. Now, you may want to get back into bed and hibernate, or you may be feeling pumped up by the endorphins and ready to take on the world – either way, this beautiful, quirky track will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day (and you won’t be complaining!)
