The Top 3 Coats for AW’14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lancaster chapter.

The bitter chill and blustery winds have arrived which can only mean one thing; we are well and truly into the autumn season. Despite the unfortunate weather, I love autumn as it gives me an excuse to update my wardrobe. At this time of year, coats are almost definitely your statement item, so I’ve picked three classic winter coats that are bang on trend and will do the job of keeping us warm throughout the colder months.

1)     The Pastel Knit:

Now, this coat is a must have in every girl’s wardrobe! With a classic 50s vibe, these feminine coats team together the oversized wool material with a pastel colour palette to give it that relaxed retro feel. Did we also mention how versatile they are? Simply throw it over a pair of skinny jeans and ankle boots for a casual yet stylish daytime look and as for evening wear; piece it together with a chiffon blouse and A- line skirt that also stick to the pastels hues.

2)    The Biker Leather Jacket

The trusty leather jacket never seems to get old and with that autumn breeze in the air, what better excuse is there for us to start wearing it again? For that grunge ensemble, go for the “all black everything” look, with a lack black shirt, ripped black skinny jeans and a pair of black Chelsea boots. If this doesn’t take your fancy, then do not worry, as this can be worn with pretty much anything, from evening dresses to cigarette trousers – the options are endless!

3)    The Classic Parka

The classic parka coat – this has to be my favourite. The slouchy style and khaki colour is tailored for everyone whilst also providing a warm and comfy barrier against the cold, wind and rain – a necessity in England!
