How to: Pin Curls

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lancaster chapter.

Do you ever wish that you didn’t have to get up early to achieve those perfect curls that take FOREVER? I certainly do! In fact, I am constantly trying out different ways to get waves and curls without the major early morning effort. Recently, I stumbled across pin curls and tried them out (not thinking they’d work for a minute on my thick hair). But hey presto- they work like a charm! So, I shall impart my newfound wisdom onto you and wish you luck on your journey towards the perfect curls!

1). Wash your hair in the evening. Let it partially dry.

2). Grab a small section of hair and roll it up around your fingers.

3). Take the section off your fingers and pin onto your head. Maybe use a couple of pins crossed over to ensure it’s secure.

4). Repeat twisting and pinning steps until you have covered your head.

5). Sleep in the pins (I haven’t found this uncomfortable so don’t worry about not sleeping!)

6). In the morning, take out all the pins and shake your hair out with your fingers to soften and expand the curls.

7). Give your hair a quick spritz of hairspray to hold it in place and you’re good to go!
