February Makeup Favourites

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lancaster chapter.

I don’t know about you, but with all the celebrations in December and the heavy work load of January, I’ve only just had time to de-clutter my make up collection. I’ve kept a few faves and replaced some mediocre products with some recently released beauties. Here are the trophy holders!

1.      Laura Mericer Mineral Pressed Powder

Not only is this my all time favourite face powder, it’s my all time favourite make up product! It honestly works miracles; all traces of late nights vanish, all blemishes become invisible, and skin appears more even than ever. It’s pretty much like a foundation but in powder form and it’s nowhere near as heavy; it’s so good I normally just use this powder on its own. Although it comes with a mini sponge, I’d advise against using it; opt for a fluffy brush so that the powder can be evenly distributed. I honestly cannot recommend this highly enough for all skin types. If I could only have one make up product it would 100% be this one- it’s definitely staying on my shelf!

2.      Estee Lauder Little Black Primer

This was only released in January, so it’s a new one for me but it has settled into my collection so well! It claims to tint eyelashes for subtle definition, condition them and prime them, to amplify mascara or by using it as a top coat, it sets lashes and makes mascara water resistant- phew, thought I’d never get to the end of that! The well known phrase ‘does what it says on the can’ has never been true enough! Tick, tick, tick and tick to every single one of those claims and more. It’s now an essential make-up prep-step for me that creates the ideal base for longer, fuller lashes that stay flexible and feel healthy. Get yourself down to your local Boots to purchase this Little Black Dress for lashes!

3.      Clinique Chubby Sticks for Sculpting Contour and Sculpting Highlight

So I wasn’t really into this ‘chubby stick hype’ which everyone else seemed so obsessed with last year, but I was out shopping last week and couldn’t keep my eyes off this cute pair. Released on February 6th, these are newbies to the group but boy are they staying! Contouring is still HOT and this pair, a combination of the contour stick and the highlight stick, creates effortlessly sculpted and shaped cheekbones. Use the contour stick on areas where shadows fall naturally on your face (under each cheekbone, either side of the nose and along the jaw line) and use the highlighter across the top of each cheekbone, down the middle of the nose, down the middle of the forehead and down the centre of the chin. As both products are Clinique, they use complimentary formulas to ensure you have a perfectly contoured face for February!

Freshen up your lashes and face with these essential products and make them part of you make up family this February!
