Christmas And New Year’s Makeup

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lancaster chapter.

Christmas time and New year is the best time of year for glitzy makeup as there are so many parties and events that you can dress up for. I know a lot of people don’t dress up actually on Christmas day but for those of you who do or have something to go to, here is the makeup look I would go for:

Base:

Aim for glowing skin and try to use a foundation without any or much spf so you don’t get a lot of flashback in pictures taken. That being said carefully applied highlighter will leave you with a healthy glow.

Eyes:

Glitter is just obligatory for this festive time of year, whether it is subtle with a line of shimmery eyeliner or a full on glittery eye look, it has to be done. For New year in particular a gold toned glittery smoky eye can look beautiful.

Lips:

The stereotypical Christmas lip is a classic red however let’s be honest this is not practical when eating a Christmas dinner. Don’t get me wrong you can rock it in a night out if you’re not planning of kissing everyone but I find it best to go for a statement eye look and then wear a nude lipgloss.

Nails:

More Glitter? Er yes! Barry M normally does beautiful glitter nail polishes and will bring out a gorgeous limited edition polish each year that is usually perfect for this time of year. Or if you’re glittered out, painting your nails red or doing some festive nail art is a great way to look more Christmassy

Remember just put glitter and sparkles everywhere and you’ll have the perfect festive look
