A bit about you:

So Jamie, how do you feel to be this week’s Campus Cutie?

I feel like when a child wakes up on Christmas morning, runs downstairs, sees all of his presents starts to open them up and there’s the toy he’s been waiting for all year. That’s how it feels to be Campus Cutie.

You did a year abroad last year didn’t you? Tell us a bit about that..

I went and studied at UNL in Lincoln Nebraska. It was an incredible experience and felt like a constant adventure. I made some of my best friends there and just had the best time.

How different is an American uni to an English one?

They’re very different. American universities are so much bigger, and have a much greater campus spirit. People around campus are so friendly and open minded. One of the biggest differences for me was the fact that a much bigger deal was made out of sports events, everyone really gets involved.

What was the best thing about your year abroad?

Travelling was amazing! I lived in a halls of residence, so there was always a constant and endless supply of food from the dining hall. Meeting new and different people every day was also a highlight.

Did you do any travelling whilst you were there? Where was your favourite place?

I went to 17 states whilst I was over there. I think my favourite place was New Orleans, it is the most amazing place I’ve ever been in my life. It’s absolutely bursting with character and there is always something going on. It’s also a very romantic city.

Back in Lancaster, do you have any hobbies? Are you a member of any societies?

I write songs and play the guitar, piano and drums, and I draw and make videos. I play tennis, football and squash, and am a member of both the tennis and the Afro-Caribbean societies.

On to the girls:

What do you look for in a girl?

Someone who’s bubbly and goofy, doesn’t take herself too seriously, and is genuinely funny. I like a girl who is kind to everyone and puts others before herself. She would have to be happy and enjoy life, and get excited about new things.

What is your biggest turn off?

Arrogance and grumpiness. Anyone who’s not my girlfriend.

Any celebrity crushes?

The blonde gal from Tangled. Kate Upton. Brad Pitt.

Give us your best chat-up line.

Hi, I’m Jamie… It works every time!

What do you think your best feature is?

That I don’t take life or myself too seriously.

Where would you take us on a first date to really impress us?

Somewhere sentimental to both of us and was really meaningful.

Moving on to some quirkier questions:

What three people; dead, alive, and fictional, would you invite to a dinner party?

Jesus Christ, Leonardo Di Caprio and Hermione Granger.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

The ability to make people happy just by looking at them. Or being able to fly.

How would your friends describe you in three words?

Explosive, supersonic, acrobatic.

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

This one time, I put cardboard in the mixed glass recycling box. That was a fun day.

If you could be anyone else in the world for a day, who would you be?

I would be Martin Scorsese for the day and make an incredible film. Either that, or I’d be Zoe Thomas (who wouldn’t!) and write an amazing article about myself.

Think fast:

Dream job: World – renowned movie director.

Favourite food: Italian food or burgers.

Favourite film: Toy Story or any of the Harry Potters – they get the magic flowing.

Favourite music artist: Led Zeppelin.

Favourite animal: Florence, my dog.
