Welcome back Leopards! Check out this week’s sports lineup!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lafayette chapter.

Hello and welcome back Leopards! This week is the start of the new school year and a kickoff to the 22 of fall varsity sports. Some home openers have already happened, but don’t worry folks, there is still more to come.

Lafayette’s men and women’s soccer teams both had their opening games this season. The women started off with a 2-0 loss against Delaware. The men were supposed to play Ryder, but unfortunately Ryder had to forfeit due to a school-wide virus that kept them from competing this past Saturday.

But don’t worry! Metzgar Fields has a double header this Friday night, August 30th!

Lafayette’s women’s field hockey team will open the season at home on Rappolt field against VCU. On the field next to them, Lafayette’s men’s soccer team will have a chance to play Siena.

Both games start at 7PM, so if you’re worried about dinner, don’t fret, Lafayette College provides a food truck with all the best game time snacks and treats!

In addition to soccer and field hockey, Lafayette’s football team will have their opener Saturday, August 31st at home against William and Mary. Game time is 6PM and this time you will have the options of food trucks and several dining halls option to satiate game time hunger!

Lafayette’s women’s volleyball and soccer are away this Friday. Volleyball will be facing off with UMBC, Temple, and Fairfield this Friday and Saturday while women’s soccer will be headed to Seton Hall. Volleyball will have a home tournament next weekend, September 6th and 7th. Soccer will be back on September 15th, so save some hype for them too!

Even though this week may be hectic and overwhelming, there is nothing better than releasing stress by cheering for old and new friends, or, if you’re really stressed, heckling the opponents is a great way to blow off steam.

Have a great first week and go leopards!!!
