Fall is one of the best seasons to pick up an interesting leisure read. A chill is in the air, and there’s nothing quite like making a good cup of hot chocolate, tea, or other hot drink of choice, and delving into the pages of a book. Lots of new books have recently been released about many fascinating topics.

Here are some of the most popular and interesting books that should be on your list for Thanksgiving break!

Romance:

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han is an adorable romance novel about love letters, sisterhood, and risking your heart.

This book was published a while ago, but its amazing Netflix adaptation was released quite recently.

If you’ve seen the movie, you have got to read the book version.

Historical Fiction:

A Well-Behaved Woman: A Novel of the Vanderbilts by Therese Anne Fowler

An interesting book about strong, intelligent women who refuse to let anyone get in their way. Alva Smith Vanderbilt reached great success by forging her own path and influenced the women’s suffrage movement. “Alva is a hero is many senses. Because she takes a backseat to no man, certainly not her husband, she finds herself in roles women typically did not fill at the time.”

Contemporary:

The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas

The Hate You Give is an extremely popular and relevant book right now inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. Praised by many people as “a must read” and “the most powerful book I’ve ever read”, its popularity has only grown since the movie also came out earlier this season. If you haven’t read it yet, it is definitely a book to add to your list for this fall.

No matter which genre you like, take some time this Thanksgiving to read on your own terms. After all of the mandatory reading assignments given by professors, it can be relaxing to read something fun and different. Plus a book is a great conversation starter at Thanksgiving dinner.
